I'm kinda stoked for this. I've wanted a nord for little bit now and the leads are at the top of the want list. I really like how noisy that demo is too
My modular so far: Q104, Q106, Q107, Q108, Q109 x2 , Q116, Q118, Q127 w/Q140, Q130, STG Wave Folder, playing with Moog Voyager, VX-351, CP-251, MF-104M (x2 STEREO!)

Never owned a Nord, but have played them on several occasions, both the 2x and 3 and Wave (mostly in stores)
I'm curious about this one. At least we won't get all the "oldschool" bigots who want it to sound like a 1997 synth with this one, like you do whenver Roland or Korg releases a new synth/workstation :D

Inb4 virus TI3. Now with 3 more voices of polyphony and a light pink paint job.

"like".

They more likely are just releasing the TI Snow in a new shade. "Yellow Snow" it will be called.
Comparison is the thief of joy.

No, the main reason was that Clavia could no longer obtain those fancy LED-ring encoders, plus they were the most expensive parts of the synth. I read they were a pain to manufacture aswell.
I don't think it helped them that the synth was at the same price as actual analog polysynths like the Alesis Andromeda A6 either, and nearly twice as expensive as the NL2X, which they are still selling.

I guess it didn't make financial sense to make any more NL3's when the Nord Wave was in the release line. The rack versions also used the light-ring-encoders, it was kind of the NL3 trademark feature. It sure is pretty to watch a patch that uses the "morph" function extensively, when encoder lights all over the synth move around with modulations or react to aftertouch.

Maybe Moog bought the only factory that makes them..the LP was released around the same time the NL3 discontinued. The LP has four of those encoders. The NL3 is covered in them.

Yeah, but it's a shame cause it's what people really like about the 3.

If that was the only thing people liked about the Nord3 then that's a shame. I had both rack and key version and loved them. The sound was much better to my ears than the 1, 2 or 2x. Much more organic sounding even though it was digital...
