You guys have got to remember that these are not marketed towards you. these are marketed at the analogue crazed kids who are hearing that analogue is still the best and you will never get that warmth from softsynths.

Re: New Novation Bass Station?
Just me but I'd rather have 3 octaves of mini keys than two octaves of full size keys. That wouldn't be true to the original Bass Station naturally, but between the MiniBrute, SubPhatty and now the BSII...wondering if the 2-octave monosynth is going to become a trend.

Re: New Novation Bass Station?
I've been using the original Bass Station keyboard as one of my main live synths for a few years now. Just love how light and portable it is, and it definitely has a sound to its own. This will be interesting...

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Not a bad spec or price,£400, but the 25 key thing is painful.
You always want just one more Synth!

Agreed. I thought having 25 keys would be plenty, but after having a Minibrute for a few months, I realized how very, very wrong I had been. I really hope this trend doesn't last, but I am glad that at least the MS-20 mini (which in my opinion is the coolest of the new monosynths this year) has a three-octave keyboard. The Sub-Phatty would have benefited greatly from one more octave. I would have bought one.Synthacon wrote:Not a bad spec or price,£400, but the 25 key thing is painful.
Comparison is the thief of joy.
Re: New Novation Bass Station?
Watching this video fro Future Music about the Bass Station II. When I first saw it I thought it reminded me of something, besides it's original version. From the initial angle of this video, this looks like a much smaller JP 8000 to me

You could make it into your signature insteadStab Frenzy wrote:Jeez, do we have to have the whole 'what's a DCO and what's a VCO?' sidetrack in every single thread? They have different Osc cores, it doesn't matter if the CV is generated by a digital source or not or whether the CV is corrected by digital circuitry that measures the Osc frequency.

Seems like the Korg Volca announcement has quelled all the interest in this?

Re: New Novation Bass Station?
I bet this will probably prove more popular in the long run with gigging musicians. Presets, bus powered, simple layout and a nice big filter cutoff knob.
The slightly different filter choices might give a bit more of an edge over something like the Mopho too.
