Digital oscs, analogue filters?

Post by nathanscribe » Mon Nov 18, 2013 8:50 pm

I wonder if we could compile a list of synths using digital oscillators and analogue filters...

By digital oscillators, I mean either sampled waves or wavetables or waves generated by other methods *not* analogue DCOs; nor simple saw/pulse analogue waves derived from clocked logic outputs, such as you'd find on the Bit et al. I suppose what I'm after is anything with 'alternative' waveforms that fall outside the easy capacity of analogue oscillators.

I'm happy to include samplers, if they have full-on resonant analogue filtering.

There must be plenty ... fire away 8-)

(am tempted to treat percussion modules as a separate entity, so will leave them off this list for now)

EDIT: Alphabetised list, updated with additions:

Sequential Prophet VS
(four digital oscillators through a Curtis analogue filter if my memory serves correctly. And once you have a combination of four waves that you like, you can save that as a single wave in a user memory slot, so "alternative'" waveforms are certainly the order of the day with the VS :) )

Mutable Instruments Shruthi and Ambika. Some of the demos of the latter are KILLER. In fact, I think I'd take the Ambika over the Prophet 12 if I were in the market for a new hybrid...

Fairlight CMI IIx and III, usable as actual VCFs. Earlier versions had filters, but only to deal with aliasing noise.
Keys: Realistic Concertmate 500, Korg K25, Korg Micro X

Does Boss SYB-3 counts? I'm not sure about its filter.

I think both the -3 and -5 are very firmly digital.

Off-center, but the Korg Poly-61 has one analog and one digital (divide down) oscillator thru an analog filter.
