The Minimoog Voyager

Hi Vintage synth's users.

I'am considering to buy a Moog Voyager, but have been reading a lot about issues
with noise from the background light? Is there someone in here who could tell me
what to be aware about, when buying a used moog Voyager, is the any other issues to
be aware about and so on.

I'am already covered in vintage analog roland gear and digital synth, but needs a mono analog synth
in the high end class (not necessary vintage, also new synth have my interest) is there other synth that could be a good alternativ (MFB Dominion f.ex.?)

I dont notice any noise on my voyager from the backlight, though I have never payed attention to it either...I guess ill have to do some testing.

Another good mono? Cwejman S1, future retro XS, waldorf pulse, some sort of modular.

what I've been reading it's some kind of problem with the 50/60hz in europe (I'am from Denmark), that's
generetes this noise, I dont think it's a problem with a moog used in the States... (but I'am just trying to find out if the proplem is real or just a "issues" on the blue edition model. )

What I'am looking for is something similar to the minimoog or Oberheim Expander, but I have had enough vintage synth's during the time and (nearly) all of them have had issues or been sent to repair. (my MKS 30 took nearly 6 month before I had it back).

So what I'am looking for is a "new" synth that can do most sounds (some are good for leads and other for bass and so fourth).

If you don't mind mini-keys and don't require patch memory, you should take a look at the MS-20 Mini - it's quite versatile and sounds great, and it's a h**l of a lot cheaper than a Voyager.

I'm not familiar with the problem but maybe go with the Performer edition which doesn't have the fancy back lighting like the Electric Blue, etc.?

I have been thinking of the MS-20 mini the only thing is the mini keys, I have a rather big hand and big fingers and those mini keys.. hmmmmm..

But it is a good alternative and I could buy 3 or 4 of those for the price of the Voyager..

I'd at least see if you can find one to try and see how it fits; I find it's quite usable, but then my hands/fingers aren't particularly big. It definitely is a great piece of gear for $600, in any case.
