Re: Vintage Analog Mixers (small format)
Pflosi - thanks for sending me that! I can definitely hear the slight slight change to the low end and top end. Pretty much what I expected. Also, a lot cleaner (noise floor wise) than I expected.
I still haven't come to any particular decision yet. I might have to go with something physically smaller to work in my space. So the either the smaller Tascams (M06) or still maybe forget vintage all together and go with something new. I can introduce color in other ways if need be.
The biggest goal is to just be able to walk into the room, flick a switch and play. Flick another switch to record. The Saffire 40 is my interface/standalone mixer right now, and there's a major delay between switch flick and action that's driving me bonkers.
Then of course the all mighty computer. I've got a retina macbook that's dead quiet and super fast. But, its still a computer. I'd like a simple, quick, NON visual way to record ideas.
The whole room just needs to be less non-musical distractions.

Re: Vintage Analog Mixers (small format)
You're welcome! Glad you could make something with it. I agree, the noise floor was pretty good actually, as mentioned.
I also have a Tascam 106 regarding smaller versions, it's cool too but I needed 8 instead of 6 channels... But it's considerably smaller than the M series.

I have a roland pa-200, it has built in reverb and delay effects that can be individually used for any of the 8 channels.
It is a monstrous beast though... Lift with your legs if you go that route.

Is it trash or treasure?

Your right. I don't want to be seduced by all those cool factors.tomorrowstops wrote:I'm actually not sure....I'm assuming its cool because its old and Studer made it. I know they're 2 inch machine is pretty great.

I would try it first but opinions on THE sound is important.

Re: Vintage Analog Mixers (small format)
It is a high quality Swiss product
It has THE sound. They come up for sale now and then here, but expensive nevertheless...

Re: Vintage Analog Mixers (small format)
Hello everybody,
New to the forum,
I have been looking for the Tascam m-35 service manual (not the operation and maintenance).
Does anyone have it in .pdf format. I would appreciate it.
Thank you
