Synthesist Deathmatch round 3
Bam, another four bite the dust.
Round two saw a clearing out of the oldest of the old guard, with Banks, Froese, Wakeman and Carlos all falling by the wayside.
Round three whittles it down to our top four, it's the semi-final, two stay and two go.
In the red corner, riding a chariot of fire we have Vangelis.
In the green corner, wearing silly glasses and a fedora it's Thomas Dolby.
In the blue corner, apologising profusely for inventing the whole electronic music and soul vocal thing, it's Vince Clarke.
Finally in the yellow corner and wielding a laserharp of surprising complexity, it's JMJ.
Let's get ready to rumble! (rumble caused by low frequency sine waves).

Re: Synthesist Deathmatch round 3
I am quite satisfied with how all of this has turned out. Everyone I wanted out is out. DEAD. Gone forever.
For this round, I've only cast a single vote, for Jarre. Have got no problem at all with the other three, but have always found JMJ a tad annoying...

Jarre did way too much awesomeness before he got boring, so he gets a pass. Vangelis still has that one really excellent thing saving his neck. The other two, eh.

Re: Synthesist Deathmatch round 3
it seems quite obvious who dies in this round, so I'm excited to see if Jarre manages to dodge Vangelis' thrown CS80s or block them in the air with his laserharps. He's had quite a few over the years so he can set up a pretty big defensive parameter.

They've killed Granny Wendy!
Rest in peace with your four DKI Synergies...
Now it's down to two very different masters. Pop vs. Epic Futurism. JMJ is only a shadow of the epicicity of Vangelis.
I want to see Vangelis win, but at the last second, John Carpenter will come out of nowhere a spaceship and beat him into submission with HIS Prophet 10.

Re: Synthesist Deathmatch round 3
If they battle it out in the dark, Jarre definately will have the advantage. Size doesn't matter. Not when you have the power of LIGHT.
The other two in this round are so unknown to me that I don't have any opinions about them. I was never much into the 80s british pop/new romantic thing. It was heavy metal or nothing for me back then. I had a bullet belt even.
I know that Vince Clarke has a massive keyboard collection and that he's been in some famous band or two, but Depeche mode or Erasure was never my cup of blood.

Re: Synthesist Deathmatch round 3
Glad that JMJ and Mr. P have made it thru, but personally a little sad that there wasn't more love for Lord Banks, Sir Wakeman and Dame Carlos over Squires Clarke and Dolby.
You bastards!
Ah well, JMJ can substitute his low wattage beams for industrial grade lasers and point it in the other direction - problem solved

Yeah that's my way of thinking. He'll shoot down anything with his high-powered laser harp auto-defence.

He was "killed" in an earlier round. Already taken care of. This is an elimination deathmatch.

Re: Synthesist Deathmatch round 3
I like a lot of 80s and modern electronic music. I'm not an old fart (not yet...I haven't started liking prog rock)...but I really don't like DeadMauFive. What an artless waste of all that expensive gear. Snoozefest.Ned Bouhalassa wrote:Hey, where's Deadmau5?
