The concept is somewhat comparable with the voice expansions for the Supernova 2 (24 -> 36 or 48 voices), which still remains to be one synth. I would say the whole thing is one synth. The only difference compared to one board (or one DX7) would be you made it multi-timbral and more polyphonic.fh991586 wrote:How do I calculate a Yamaha TX-816? It's one or 8 synths?

Re: How many hardware synths do you own?
Only two these days. The most I owned at any one time was about 6, not counting drum machines, for want of space and money. Who knows what would have happened if I didn't have a family!
Edit: having read the first page of posts, I realised I should have counted my sampler and drum machine after all so I have 4 in total. I am not counting my second, non-working S5000 that I am keeping for spare parts.

Re: How many hardware synths do you own?
I've got mine down to 7 that I can't do without, it was a painful cull down from 19 (most of them hidden away under the bed or shoved to the back of wardrobes etc. just gathering dust).
I'm also down to 4 guitars and just the 1 violin

Re: How many hardware synths do you own?
I think 16 without going to count.
Mainly older analogue synths all having their own sound and niche.
3 elektron boxes, one groove box sampler and 3 up to date digi synths.
Not counting yamaha pss's even though I use them as much as the analogues. Or should I ?
20 with those and hopefully 21 when the sub 37 comes, if it does ha.
I'm done for now unless something bonkers comes my way and then I would probably let something go.

Re: How many hardware synths do you own?
I have 3 monos, 3 polys, and 3 drum machines
Works for me. They are all totally different so keeps me entertained. Find it works better for my workflow too. Would love a couple more, but i'm limiting myself.

So we have 12% of us here (the 36+ group) who should urgently visit a G.A.S. doctor as they clearly need help to get their addiction under control...

Counting the RX7 and Casio SK5, I've got 8. Unfortunately, my M1 and ESQ are in the cases right now pending me getting another stand to put them on.

Re: How many hardware synths do you own?
100+ synths, 3 stringers (+1 Streichfett en route), 3 samplers, 2 electro-acoustic pianos, 20+ drum machines, 12+ drum synths
Trying to get the synth count under 40, though.

Wow! Where do you find the space to all of that?Z wrote:100+ synths, 3 stringers (+1 Streichfett en route), 3 samplers, 2 electro-acoustic pianos, 20+ drum machines, 12+ drum synths

I have 10 hardware synths/samplers, I think.
But what about plug in-synths? Would you include them? I have the D50-plug in for the V-Synth, and the Radias plug for the M3. And what about stuff like the Kaoss Pad3? Effect processor, but also a sampler

About two-thirds of that are at home in my "music room" which is a combined formal living and dining room. The other third is occupying 3 offices at my furniture shop.Hugo76 wrote:Wow! There's probably more items to those lists that might have missed. Also, I have no software except a few apps on an iPad. I mainly record straight to 2 track (usually camera input or Zoom H4N) and the rare occasion that I do multi-track, I'll use the Roland Fantom X6, Alesis HD24 or Tascam 238 8 track cassette or 424 4 track cassette.

Actually, TF1 modules are a an stripped down engine, not simply a voice. They can be controlled independently: they all have a midi input...CS_TBL wrote:The concept is somewhat comparable with the voice expansions for the Supernova 2 (24 -> 36 or 48 voices), which still remains to be one synth. I can't believe my 10 is the average. I feel guilty for the ones against the wall. Time to clear more s**t out.

Re: How many hardware synths do you own?
I would say if you can play it as one thing, list it as 1 thing in your gear list, sell it as one thing, buy it as one thing, and review it as one thing; it makes sense that it would count toward the vote as one thing. If you really think it should count as a bunch of things for some good reasons, then go for it.
This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...
