The D-110 actually isn't that bad as the structure of the engine is very straight forward. I had started on a D-10 and could find my way round on the D-110 (which has one more layer of complexity Patch->Timbres->Tones->Partials)
The manual is horrible - but you didn't have the German translation! It's worse! It took me some time to figure out what "Tonhöhenbeugungshebel" meant - ack: pitch bender!!
Add other monstrosities like "Klangfarbenparameterzuordnungstabelle" - yes, it's really in there! ;)

But did you ever try a Wavestation SR? That one's my winner - programming it is like trying to drive a car poking with a stick through a keyhole! Ha!
The Wavestation is really complex and well to handle on the keyboard version, but the SR with two lines of display and 10 knobs...
Korg used the same housing for the 03r/w, which also is one of the synths with the worst user interface ever - but they really took the cake with the SR.

Don't forget to TURN ON THE SYNTHESIZER. Often this is the reason why you get no sound out of it. - ARP 2600 manual, 1971

For me it has to be the Peavey DPM Spectrum Bass - just four knobs and two buttons! Had one for a while and sold it as I found it really frustrating! :---)

Mind you, this was way before Google Translate.

If you don't believe it, here's a photo from the German D-110 manual: :D

While perhaps not the worst interface, but the CZ-101 interface was pretty bad.

Not really - it had mostly dedicated buttons per parameter set and was thus fairly straightforward to get around.

The only less than great bit was the envelopes - lots of paging, and setting values by up/down arrows, with no real visual indication of the envelope shapes. However, if you understood how the envelopes worked, it wasn't a huge issue in practice (I certainly programmed the heck out of mine at about age 14 up...)

A bit tedious, for sure, but wasn't really difficult and considering the resources they had to work with, the synth was pretty well laid out, and functional, for such an inexpensive synth.

Another vote for the FS1R. One of the best sounding synths I have though...

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the AKAI S2000 yet, but that's probably because most of you have never touched that piece of garbage with a nightmare UI...
