Synthesizers for Electronic Body Music ???
Hi to all !!
I would like to recommend me that synthesizers will be better for Electronic Body Music .
I listen EBM ,Dark Electro, Synthpop , Futurepop ,.etc..
Analog or digital , what ever ,..... but I prefer it be new, old, will be difficult to buy and more expensive.
What synthesizers recommend me?
Greetings
Daniel

Access Virus. That is what VNV, Assemblage 23. Icon of Coil, Combichrist, etc etc etc use. In fact, Icon of Coil has patches on Access' web site, and Assemblage 23 has patches on their site.

Virus is a good choice, but you could basically use anything. It's not about the synth you use, it's about how you use it.

A friend of mine , he told me that a Access Virus is as a simply plugin !
he recommended me a Alesis andromeda A6 or oberheim matrix 12.
I know that they are more expensive and more difficult for to buy.
But an analog will be better in the future?

No, its really not 'simply a plugin'. It is a piece of hardware. You can control it with a plugin, but it is a hardware synthesizer, and it is the single most widely used synth in the type of music you're talking about. Not old expensive vintage analogs.

Yes , I understand what you say.Ashe37 wrote:No, its really not 'simply a plugin'. It is a piece of hardware. You can control it with a plugin, but it is a hardware synthesizer, and it is the single most widely used synth in the type of music you're talking about. Not old expensive vintage analogs.
All depends on the type of music you want to do, that's true
And many synthetisers have great sounds, whatever it is

While yes, that is true... I'm telling you what is the primary synthesizer used by the major artists in the exact genre you're asking about. Look at the gear lists for Assemblage 23 and VNV Nation, on their respective web sites.LastSystem wrote:Yes , I understand what you say.Ashe37 wrote:No, its really not 'simply a plugin'. If you're going to get just one hardware synthesizer to use for EBM, I'd say get a Virus, at least a 'C'. Otherwise you're looking at needing a variety of stuff and you end up woth a mishmosh of gear.... like this ---->
(Notice that Assemblage 23 didn't use the Oberheim Xpander on their latest album... Tom sold it.)
Re: Synthetisers for Electronic Body Music ???
If you want old school EBM sounding, then you want something like a Korg MS20 (DAF - der mussolini), a sequential Pro One (Skinny Puppy - Smothered Hope, Dupont - dope of love), or a DX7 (front 242 - headhunter). Nitzer Ebb used a DX7 and an SH101 layered. Covenant used a lot of Nord Lead (dead stars), Wumpscutt used a lot of the Korg Wavestation (Mother), Das Ich used the Waldorf Microwave in a lot of the album Staub, as did And One.
Virus is cool, but over played.

Technically, Covenant is using a Nord Modular, not a Nord Lead.

according to Covenant.de, they use both.Ashe37 wrote:Technically, Covenant is using a Nord Modular, not a Nord Lead.

All groups use different synthesizers, is logicxparis001 wrote:If you want old school EBM sounding, then you want something like a Korg MS20 (DAF - der mussolini), a sequential Pro One (Skinny Puppy - Smothered Hope, Dupont - dope of love), or a DX7 (front 242 - headhunter). But my question was intended to synthesizers are more oriented towards electronic music
All are great, one way or another
but you, What you can recommend for this particular style?...that was the question, hehehehe

LastSystem,
If you read the replies about what name artists have used for EBM, the conclusion to draw is the synth choice doesn't matter very much. It's personal taste.
Do you already own synthesizers (hardware or software)? If so, what about them do YOU find lacking in creating EBM?

I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.
Re: Synthetisers for Electronic Body Music ???
well, I would consider all of the bands listed as variations on the style you're going for. pick your favorite, there's the synth.LastSystem wrote:All groups use different synthesizers, is logicxparis001 wrote:If you want old school EBM sounding, then you want something like a Korg MS20 (DAF - der mussolini), a sequential Pro One (Skinny Puppy - Smothered Hope, Dupont - dope of love), or a DX7 (front 242 - headhunter). Perhaps the problem is when you want to buy a new synthesizer, what do we do ?meatballfulton wrote: Do you already own synthesizers (hardware or software)? If so, what about them do YOU find lacking in creating EBM?
A Moog ?? ...a Virus ?? ...a Kurzweil ?...a Prophet ?...a Yamaha ? ,..etc.. This is the dilemma !
I have a Korg N364, Roland Mc307 , E-MU Mp7 (grooveboxes) and are fantastic.
But if I want to buy a new synthe and spend 2000 or 3000 € , I not know what to do

Re: Synthesizers for Electronic Body Music ???
Based on what you own, I'd buy something analog.
Either a Moog (Voyager or Sub37) or a Prophet 08 (if you want polyphony) would be my suggestion.
