Cheap free .wav recording software?

Post by moodorf » Tue Nov 03, 2015 6:39 am

Can anyone recommend any?

I had previously been using NCH Wavepad, which was good but now it just keeps crashing. I record sounds via USB with this http://www.lexiconpro.com/en-US/products/alpha

thanks all

Audacity would be my first choice. It's free and has plenty of editing and processing features.

Even though I own both Ableton Live and Cubase, I still use Audacity for things like recording LPs and tapes into the computer and doing clean-up edits on recordings made with my portable recorder. A former bandmate used it to record rehearsals with his laptop mike.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Another very convenient and hands-on recording tool: No 23 Recorder.

It is freeware (site is in German, however) and, as I said, very convenient to use.
Don't forget to TURN ON THE SYNTHESIZER. Often this is the reason why you get no sound out of it. - ARP 2600 manual, 1971

Another Audacity big fan here !
It is cross platform (win/osx/linux), it is free and it supports vst. What more could you ask for ?
It is all about sharing...
