The OB-X was largely based on the SEM and of course the 4-Voice and 8-Voice were a bunch of SEMs kludged together.

Re: Reissues you'd like to see...
You're right, and I believe that the OB-XA was CEM based along with the 8. With the oscs on the OB-6 being more SEM like, the OB-6 should in theory sound more like the OB-X than the XA. Like I said, my perception/opinion of the OB-6 not sounding like the older ones may put me well in the minority and that it does sound spot on to most others, but I don't know, it doesn't seem to have the power that the old ones do (to me) or is just missing something. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ApolloBoy wrote:The OB-X was largely based on the SEM and of course the 4-Voice and 8-Voice were a bunch of SEMs kludged together.

Be it as it may, it's too heavy (it's plywood, actually).knolan wrote:The CS80 doesn't have fakewood. It has hard wood - and why it weights 100kg.ppg_wavecomputer wrote:Yamaha CS80 in an enclosure made from aluminium, with memories, and without fakewood.

I am sure its weight isn't an important factor when it comes to playing it.

You are talking about the CS80?madtheory wrote:Ya the base is ply but the keys are solid wood though.
I'm sorry but you're completely wrong. The key tops are made from plastic, the key levers are metal. It's about the same keyboard as on the CP30 electric piano.

There wasn't really a need to be brunt about it.ppg_wavecomputer wrote: I'm sorry but you're completely wrong.

Re: Reissues you'd like to see...
It appears you are correct! I always assumed it had the same keyboard as the KX88, but it doesn't. Just another myth- and it appears the KX88 keys are not wood either. Both have been advertised by users down through the years as having wooden keys- I guess people assumed that meant wood, and I took their word for it.

I think -- but I am not sure because I have never peeked inside one -- the DX-1 had a wooden keyboard but don't take my word for it.

And, supposedly, the Synclavier VPK, which is the same as the Prophet T8. Who knows!
It's probably way OTT. My Akai MX-1000 has the usual led weights in plastic keys, as do most modern weighted keyboards like the Korg Kronos and Roland Fantom 88. All very nice piano actions.

I'm going to go a bit of a different route here, but I'd like to see a Hammond B-3 reissue. Or any genuine tonewheel reissue.

Re: Reissues you'd like to see...
I'd like to see a synthesizer that sorta pays tribute to the old cheap sounding DCO synths like the Crumar DS-1, but with an analogue filter and all that and really expanded. I know there's the Streichfett, but I'm more thinking like "polyphonic Wasp" style.
As for crunchy samplers, the Zoom ST-224 does a wonderful job and is rather affordable still.

Re: Reissues you'd like to see...
I would like to see a recreation of the CS-50, 60, 80 series. The signal path (OSC into 2 High and Low pass filters, independent Sub Osc, etc.) was unique and made those synths have a unique sound that is hard to recreate. The ribbon controller was awesome. Not to hit the hornet's nest, but IMHO, software emulations are just not there.
