Oh it's beyond that, the Behringer one was predictable marketing hype, bringing in "Artists" no one really cares about to say asinine buzz words about some blurry blinking lights... Genius.

But THIS Elektron video was just an abstract pile of nothingness. Not good if you're trying to sell something, they're obviously trying to be "arty" but there's "artistic" and then there is bullshit. This was bullshit.

Yeah, they're getting into a market with a lot of competition. There are zillions of distortion devices out there, and a bunch of multieffects boxes at cheaper prices.

My guess was that they were targeting this to their own customer base. Like the people who are already pro Elektron would consider this a new addition to their current set up. As a smaller company, what should they do next? Make another groovebox? Standalone synth? More versions of their current offering(s)?

So maybe, like how Roland inspires such brand loyalty that a lot of their customers would rather rant at Roland than buy the thing they desire from someone else.

What about the plug in aspect and its DAW connectivity(MIDI + soundcard)?
Does that make it something more than what a pedal could do?

I'd like to hear from someone who owns their boxes- to see if they think this makes a worthy addition. Last I remember, I think StabFrenzy had some of their gear. So he'd probably know what this new addition means - plus maybe there were requests or something.

This reminds me of Native Instruments' driver, which is actually pretty awesome. $750 is a lot of money though... I guess it's the fact that everything's analog, and it's an A/D & D/A converter? Almost everything sends audio through USB anymore though. Maybe it's of higher quality? Maybe if you don't have an interface, love distortion effects, and have an allegiance to elektron, it could make sense. I'm trying to imagine having $750 devoted to a separate device for having things distorted, filtered, and sent into a computer. I guess if you understand the appeal of the rest of the Elektron gear this makes more sense.

That's one of the wildest, hard to handle but musical little distortion. Works great as a distortion module in Reaktor. Analog Heat is interesting but Dent is more of my type and for way cheaper a combination with Fault is endless fun.

I own the A4, AK, RYTM, OT, MD, and MnM (2, in fact), and this new box doesn't do a thing for me. If my GAS meter goes from 0 (I hate it and would never buy it) to 10 (I can't live without it), then the Analog Heat is about a 2. I acknowledge that it might be a useful piece of gear in someone's setup. Just not mine.
