That particular DX7 was owned by Fred Weinberg, so perhaps a little more understandable.xparis001 wrote:A DX7 for only $2600!

Roland Jupiter 8 Synthesizer - Not Functioning - As Is
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/201700198554
I’m selling my beloved Jupiter 8 as-is for parts. I bought this synth in the 90’s from a Roland employee who said it had been in a flood, and never worked since. I’ve tried my best to get it going again, but to no avail. Several techs over the years have looked at it, and reported that it has multiple issues, and probably should be passed into the hands of a very competent synth repair person with time available to trouble-shoot.
Currently the power supply is working, but it seems the CPU board is not functioning and it will not Boot correctly. No sound comes out of it.
It is being sold as-is. If you are looking for a project, think you can get it running and save it, then this is for you. The synth is a complete unit – nothing has been scavenged from it.
Cosmetically it’s actually in great shape for a synth of it’s age. I’d give it a 9-10 considering everything.
I would love to one day hear that it is functioning again, so I’m hoping it goes to a qualified purchaser.
SN 070408 – one of the earlier 12 Bit versions, non-DCB.

This looks like a psychotropic reaction. No wonder it's so popular...

Be aware of this auction, it is a fraud. I've contacted to EBay in order to stop, but just in case:

How do you know it's a fraud? ... just wondering because a JP8 has always been at the top of my 'when I win the lottery' wishlist (before you ask - NO... I haven't won the lotterydigitalread wrote:Be aware of this auction, it is a fraud. I've contacted to EBay in order to stop, but just in case:

I'd love to be able to put a bid on it but you've got me wondering how you tell the difference between a legit and dodgy email listing...
cheers

wow... very well spotted ... any reply from eBay?digitalread wrote:Pictures are taken from a previous adv. I also contacted the seller because I live in the same country in order to pick locally...no answer at all. anyway you are free to lost 5000€
When I said I wanted to put a bid on it, I meant i wish i was in a position to make a bid on A JP8 ... not this JP8 in the listing you posted about ... there's a mint JP8 up for grabs here in Australia ... there's another day and a half to go and the bidding just ticked over to AUD $7000 plus freight
someone is going to go home with a beau-ti-ful piece of gear ... but to quote the great man ..."It ain't me babe... no, no, no it ain't me babe..."

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.
Whatever I dont care. They can as well put some zeros extra at the end of the price. They are just a space and time wasters over there. it is no advertising, not in a good sense as it turns off completely.
THey must have very good weeds when putting a prices like there.
But there ARE several times happened that seller "LOST THE ITEM" after auction. They did not want to sell with that price after all! OR after auction he says "I noticed now that the display has some problems".

When looking into getting a K2500 or any of its variants, I checked the offers on ebay... sure enough, some shops think that they can charge you anything if the thing works, no matter how butchered it is.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kurzweil-K2500 ... Swa59Zx-U6 (especially like that "You save: $1,793.99 (69% off)" there...)
I feel hurt when I see those keyboards in such a condition...

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.
This also reminds me (no link, sorry, too long ago!) of the time when I got my D-50 in 2011. I was monitoring prices for a while after that to check if I would have found a better offer if I just waited a bit longer.... Back then I got it for 220€, which was a typical price, but certianly there were also exceptions - like one offer for I believe 800€, without any pictures and if my memory serves me well, the seller preferred a payment via bitcoins... It sure seemed fishy, and of course it stayed on the page for weeks, if not months, without a buyer...

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.
Yes I have noticed this with Organs, especially those classical digitals. There is a Viscount 3 manual on eBay UK worth about £400, and it is already bid up to £1400. This is because there a very few being sold so more people are looking for them.
But there are some ridiculous starting bids on organs and synths some for hundreds more than they are worth, but being sold by people that do not know anything about selling keyboards. For example, who wants to spend £300 on a Philicorda.
Buyers do not have much choice at the moment on-line, so it is best to go ot and use the shops just as we used to.
Roland Ax-Synth 7 Cash Generators £399, not bad and has a hard case.
I will post what I see in the future.
