Synth that sounds like this:

Post by nicksynth » Fri Mar 10, 2017 7:31 am

Could anybody help identify or recommend a synth that sounds like either of these:

Beach House 'Saltwater':

Land of Talk 'Inner Love':

Thank you!

Both have a drum sound that has that sampled gritty 8bit ish sound with filters. Old ensoniq or Akai type of thing. The synth stuff in Saltwater reminds me of my SQ1. Inner love synth, not sure.

Sounds like samplers to me, not synths.

Beach House uses a Baldwin Discovery organ and a Yamaha Portasound PS-20 keyboard , which both can be had for cheap. I don't know what the other band uses but I am guessing for the organ parts a cheap keyboard or organ and the mono parts are Moog but not sure. With those kind of bands cheap keyboards are popular but the drums def come from a Yamaha PS-20 in the first song and maybe Ensoniq ESQ-1/SQ80/VFX or Akai S sampler triggered by sequencer in the second. But the latter def has some Moog (not Mini though, Prodigy, Rogue, Multimoog or even Sequential Pro One, but the leads are also kinda Junoish because it is chorused).
Korg, Casio, Alesis, and Yamaha (Minilogue, WK-7600, SK-1, CT-X3000, SR-16, MX49)
FL Studio 12, VSTs, MIDI keyboard
Non synths include string, woodwind, percussion, and toys for SFX.
