Hadn't before, but that looks like an option.

Gave it a shot...doesn't seem to have improved things.

Install an SSD, and check out the RAM limit- I'm pretty sure it's one of the models where the real limit is 8GB, not 4GB.

Got MacTracker, which tells me that the RAM limit is 4GB as set by Apple, but 6GB in actuality. I guess that means I could theoretically get two more gigs of RAM if I took out the CD drive. Just not sure if I want to do that.

I took a couple small steps and am seeing slightly faster performance. Honestly I think part of my problem may just be running too many programs (or apps, if you will) at once. That definitely makes RAM usage go up.

FTR, I bought a MiniNova. It is new "B1 Stock" but comes with its own guarantee and one-year warranty, plus I bought a two-year SquareTrade to back it up. I have no experience with B1 Stock but I read the description and it's guaranteed to work like new, plus has all the accessories and software and such. I'm guessing the phrase "B1 Stock" means either floor model or refurbished?

If your willing to buy used Nord Leads and Access Viruses have come down in price recently. Also in the past I've recorded with a behringer uca202. I'm typically cynical about behringer products, but its served me well over the years. I believe some audiophile website did a thorough testing of it years ago and its performance was on par with more expensive alternatives.
We'll always be remembered, we'll always be dismembered.
