Juno 6 for $620, should I get it?
I could have the chance to get a Roland Juno 6 for $620 from a guy on craigslist. Works perfectly, it only has a broken stick on the bender (which works fine), and the arpeggiator motion switch is missing (Up, down, Down-up) both easily fixable.

why not? If you end up not liking it, fix it and sell.

ridiculous price for a THIS quite synth which STILL NEEDS REPAIR. Whatever,
that seller can ask even $1000 and thinks about it as a goldmine.

Those two problems are easy fixes, and it looks like the OP knows how to fix those so I'd probably buy it honestly. I don't think the Juno 6 is worth a whole lot either, but $620 is lower than the market value right now.jxalex wrote:ridiculous price for a THIS quite synth which STILL NEEDS REPAIR.

If it's such an easy fix, why hasn't it been fixed yet?NCChao1268 wrote: [...] both easily fixable. [...]

That would be a great compliment to your Kurzweil and R3 as an analog synth. It also has some good sounds, if you look at the manual online, try out some of the preset settings (keep in mind this synth unlike your other 2 has no storage).

Exactly. When I see this in an ad, I always think the seller is hiding comething and it raises a red flag...ppg_wavecomputer wrote:If it's such an easy fix, why hasn't it been fixed yet?NCChao1268 wrote: [...] both easily fixable. [...]

They're easy fixes for anyone who's competent working on synths, not easy if you're not.ppg_wavecomputer wrote:If it's such an easy fix, why hasn't it been fixed yet?NCChao1268 wrote: [...] both easily fixable. [...]

If you're not competent enough to fix it, how can you tell it's an easy fix?Stab Frenzy wrote:They're easy fixes for anyone who's competent working on synths, not easy if you're not.ppg_wavecomputer wrote:If it's such an easy fix, why hasn't it been fixed yet?NCChao1268 wrote: [...] both easily fixable. And why not fix it prior to selling a synth if it's an easy fix that generates a lot of extra cash perhaps?

Re: Juno 6 for $620, should I get it?
Or you could buy a Behringer Deep Mind 12, which is almost twice the price, but is probably four times the synth the Juno 6 is (double the polyphony, MIDI, storage, similar UI, more envelopes, more mod options in general, built in effects, bender is not broken etc. etc.) and it sounds nice.
Or the DSI Mopho. Less polyphony, but sonically will murder a Juno 6.
LOL @ curmudgeons arguing about bender repair.

Junos sound nice, but with all the new analog polys available these days it seems a bit silly to spend several hundred dollars on a single oscillator per voice with no patch storage.
Comparison is the thief of joy.

the lack of patch storage is what makes the Juno 6 so appealing to some. its nice to have an honest synth with a panel that never liesKenneth wrote:Junos sound nice, but with all the new analog polys available these days it seems a bit silly to spend several hundred dollars on a single oscillator per voice with no patch storage.

Yeah, I can get down with that. Having the ability to save sounds can constrict creative juices. However, I do think the Juno is a bit of a fetish object these days.moremagic wrote:the lack of patch storage is what makes the Juno 6 so appealing to some. its nice to have an honest synth with a panel that never liesKenneth wrote:Junos sound nice, but with all the new analog polys available these days it seems a bit silly to spend several hundred dollars on a single oscillator per voice with no patch storage.
