Synths that were used in these songs?
Material Girl: sine/triangle wave pad, synth bleep, guitarish sawtooth lead. Edit: apparently it was a bass guitar for the bass. The sawtooth lead is a synth with a modulation wheel or lever or button.
King Tut: pulse wave portamento lead.
Holiday: duophonic-sounding synth meow sound (I might have seen it played on an Odyssey by ARP (Mark I).

"Synth Brass" - there's no "synth brass" in that song, but REAL brass.Music Bird wrote:Synths that were used in these songs?
Funky Worm: synth brass (is it a Solina?).
Now there is a single oscillator synth lead. Wiki says it's an ARP synthesizer (I'm guessing Odyssey)

I'm pretty sure "Jesse's Girl" is a SCI Prophet T8.

Oh, I must be thinking about the monosynth line from the Pro Soloist (not an Odyssey, even though the sound is close to sounds I have heard on an ARP).

"Funky worm" was done on an ARP Soloist, the predecessor of the Pro-soloist.

According to an online interview with Giorgio Moroder, the phased strings on "I feel love" was some Italian string keyboard, presumably
a Logan string melody.
Take my breath away bass is DX-7.
Abba's S.O.S. was a Minimoog if I recall correctly. Benny didn't use a GX-1 until 1979's "Voulez-Vous".

Maybe he meant SOS Band's S.O.S. (much better than Abba)
Probably Minimoog bass and Odyssey (w/PPC vibrato) for the lead.

Also: what was used on Bucks Fizz Land of Make Believe? Especially the octave synth.
What Korg polysynths were around in 1984 (I saw a song from then which was my first time seeing a Korg from the 80s being played live other than a M1

Re: What synths were used in these songs?
Hello, I'm newbie so please let me know if this is not the right way to post.
I'm trying to find what kind of synths are these on ABBA's song "take a chance on me"?
I placed 2 little mp3 samples
https://www.dropbox.com/s/bdj2ti2s7qvso ... 9.mp3?dl=0
https://www.dropbox.com/s/gq73e0i9mfxp7 ... 2.mp3?dl=0
Or you can also check the original version on youtube at:
00:16 seg (right before drums comes in) kinda guitar synth.
01:09 (the arp synth).
many thanks!

Re: What synths were used in these songs?
I think they used a MiniMoog for a lot of synth sounds at that time. I could be wrong - somebody please correct me if I am - but I think Benny Andersson also used a Polymoog.

Many thanks GC!
I think I found one very close to that with the mini V => keyboards => tp piano.
Like you said is probably done with minimoog.
Best!
