What is your favorite Phaser FX for synths?

Post by ranzee » Tue Dec 19, 2017 1:11 am

I did this video showing a vintage analog phaser FX pedal by Boss - the PH-1R. Although it isn't my top fav, it is one of my favs. The top spot goes to the Smallstone.

What is yours? Link us up with some audio or video showcasing how it sounds :)

I'm a sucker for phasers and I've got quite a few in different formats. My favorite by far is the Cwejman SPH2.

It sounds somewhat like this on its own (pushed to self osc in a no input feedback patch)

It has a very nice woody ping sound, kinda like this "rimshot" sound :D

And it sounds like these in a feedforward FM patch 8-)

Detailed patch descriptions can be found on SC or in my patching thread.

Cheers :drinks:

Actual AC power supply...back when men were men ;)

These go for crazy money these days, I had two, paid $25 each. Should have kept at least one of them.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Spent many many hours scouring the internet listening to demos trying to find a good sounding low budget option. I finally decided on the Russian Smallstone, red and black. Sounds great with my string synths! :D

I've got the early 80's EHX one - they are amazing. I've also got the nano - doesn't sound nearly as nice.
