Juno-60 odd issue

Post by deskman » Tue May 29, 2018 1:18 pm

I have a Juno-60 that has a funny issue that my tech can't seem to easily diagnose.

A few of the notes don't seem to sound that same as the others.

- Middle C most notably and a few of the others around it - Basically they seem to have much less low end.
- Only on the PWM and TRI settings - Sub and noise is unaffected
- The problem moves when I transpose the keyboard so I don't think it's the actual keys themselves

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas?
Should I recap the PSU and CPU and recalibrate?
Has anyone come across a similar issue before?

I don´t think that´s the kind of problem a PSU recap would solve...

Here´s a tip for your tech, hoping will be of some use:

The DCO is SAW core, from which SQUARE is derived. One will affect the other. On a DCO, CV is used to set the amplitude of the core wave across the keyboard, instead of pitch. The SubOsc is unaffected by this.

SO I´d try the calibration procedure described on Point 4 in the Service Notes, which deals with the amplitude of the SAW wave. There´s even mention such procedure will affect PWM.

Good luck!
