CZ-101 Memory solutions!!!!
I have a CZ101 that I love to death but I want to stomp on its ugly interface every time I attempt to save a patch only to find it gone a week later. RA-3 cartridges are all but extinct it seems, I've heard of software patch libraries though, does anyone have a recommendation for a good Mac-based one? Or perhaps some other method for saving patches...?

CZEditor might work.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.

Re: CZ-101 Memory solutions!!!!
Some guy on a CZ board was talking about cloning the RA-3 cartridge. Lemme see if I can find the link.

Re: CZ-101 Memory solutions!!!!
A friend of mine did the following... he put an adaptor for iirc 3 AA batteries instead of the 6 big batteries. Apparently, that is not enough to power on the synth, but it´s enough to retain the internal patches.
Cheers.

Thanks for the replies, very helpful. I'm curious about the battery thing - I'm able to retain patches for a matter of hours or days sans batteries. Long term internal storage needs batteries though, it seems...? I worry about remembering to change the AA's using that method. Externalizing seems like the best way, I was hoping for something along the lines of that RA-3 clone, if that is indeed possible.

Here´s a topic about the battery mod.slumbermonkey wrote:Thanks for the replies, very helpful. They´re supposed to last 9 months or more, so if you back up once in a while, I can´t think of any reason why you shouldn´t try it.
Cheers.

Re: CZ-101 Memory solutions!!!!
Hi,
Thanks gmeredith,
Tested a 64-patch CZ RAM cartridge schematic with a one RAM chip HY6264. Only exception is inverted signal necessity from cartridge slot 6 pin as CS2 inverted as it goes in this schematic to IC2 pin 26. The schematic is like to EZ-CZ cartridge schematic for 4x16 patches, I thought.

Re: CZ-101 Memory solutions!!!!
First: I apologise for reviving such an old thread, but I have a good reason
(at least I think so)
A few weeks ago, while on holidays I spotted a keyboard at the trash-site. Of course I picked it up and I immediately went back to my 15 year old self water mouthing in front of the music store for that cool Casio CZ-1.
They threw it out, so it must be broken. Sort of, as far as I can tell it works perfectly after replacing the relay.
Now I want to build myself some cartridges and did find the schematic for the RA-3 (which is a ROM version). In this thread a few people mention a different schematic, but the image-links have faded in the internet.
Any chance anyone can post some ROM/RAM cartridge schematics compatible with the CZ-1?
Thanks!
P.S. Not even a cool Casio CZ-1 improves my "piano" playing, but is a lot of fun (also for the kids)

Re: CZ-101 Memory solutions!!!!
Hi,
Basic schematic is from the post # 7, here:
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electro ... ridge.html
But for the Ram chip I used a one RAM chip HY6264 with appropriate pin adjustment. Read a previously post where described some inside connections, too, please.
I do not know about that cartridge compatibility with CZ-1, sorry.
Regards,
Janis
