Unleash Chaos

Introducing Pendulate, chaotic monosynth by Newfangled Audio. Pendulate uses a brand new oscillator design to produce sounds different from any other synth. It features a chaotic oscillator based on a double pendulum. What initially looks random actually contains underlying patterns of interconnectedness, constant feedback loops, repetition, self-similarity, fractals, and self-organization. When designing the Pendulate oscillator we took great care to bring out these underlying patterns. The result is an oscillator that can smoothly fade from a sine wave to total chaos, with an expanse of territory to explore in between.

Very reminiscent of the "west coast" synths like Serge and Buchla. Cool.

EDIT:

Pros:

Sounds pretty good, very thick bottom end on offer.

I really like the EGs, they respond like a real analog mono when using long attacks and releases.

The modulation EG has simultaneous ADSR, AD and AR outputs.

The signal animations, patch cables and even the controls can be removed from the display if it gets too cluttered.

Pretty much everything can be modulated, including the EG stages.

Cons:

Easy to cause aliasing when pushing the "chaos" hard.

The patching made no sense to me until I read the manual.

I'm not sure why MPE support was provided unless there's a polyphonic version coming.

On my Mac the GUI cannot be resized, makes the patch modulation controls hard to see.

The low pass gate is not only 1, 2 or 3 poles but fractional settings are possible...what's a 2.3 pole filter supposed to do?

LFO clock synch stops at 16th notes, no 32nds...but it extends out to 16 bars for really slow sweeps.

Not crazy about the square controls.
I listened to Hatfield and the North at Rainbow. They were very wonderful and they made my heart a prisoner.
