can't see it, modular owners like to have more than one row of 16-steps. And owners with MS synths
won't buy into it either, because it does not have those important outs like the mobius did. Jered has
specifically designed this in all including colour scheme for the XS, as stated - the 1st of the XS-ories.

anyway, I like the idea of this orb thing as I really like the mobius and it has a swing function which I really wanted with the mobius + the remix option could be interesting. ok the cv inputs are not featured as much but that does not bother me personally.

I can see why they are tagging this along with the XS to push a line of equipment almost but don't get bogged down with that as its is basically a more up to date mobius! Now the mobius is discontinued there is a market for this.

I just wish I could get hold of one in the uk now.

F-R has a UK distributor called Analogue Addiction, there was a website, but it seems to have gone down
and eventually disappeared!


As for the Modular thing, yeah some modular users will embrace it, others will not.

Yes, but making drum sounds on a monophonic synth requires a sampler for use... not the same as a nice analog drum machine.

exactly right. for example, i want to tweak the BD and SN in real time, seeing how they play against each other. having to sample off each hit kills that style of programming.

Now if you're sequencing a modular with a revolution you could send the output of the synth into the filter cutoff or other various paths right?

So you could actually sequence the pitch and use the revo synth to control other things... that seems like a big advantage.

It's been announced for about five minutes, I think it's a bit early to be judging whether it's gonna sell or not.

Not really, unless all you want is audio rate FM of your modular - can get boring after a while... Revo still has only one CV out...

It's obviously geared towards a certain type of sequencing (given the XS has an accent i/p), but having only on/off control of accent seems limiting to me. A sequencer with 3 or 4 CV outs for each step would be far more interesting.

Can't really see the modular crowd going nuts over this as they've multiple CV ins to control.

Nope. Not this cat at least. This sequencer is too expensive (for its features)/boring (for its lack of features) for most modular needs. Most people in the modular camp, well the people I 'talk' to at least, want more flexibility for their experimental purposes - ie multiple cv channels, able to split the 16 steps into 2x 8 steps, having multiple gate busses, control of step direction, etc. As I stated in my last post, it would be more desirable amongst non-XS crowds if it were cheaper, given its current feature set.

I think it was aimed squarely at the XS folk.

So far in the last 19 hours that discussion has been 3 posts - the original poster & 2 replies. Suit&Tie guy's involvement certainly brings credibility to the discussion, however I don't see that conversation going very far. I guess we'll find out tomorrow morning after the Eastern Hemisphere gets another go at that topic.....
