PYT vox lead
Any idea how the vox lead in the second half of the intro was done originally or how to reproduce that sound?
Currently have: Baby Grand Piano, B3, CP-30, DX7, Casiotone MT-210, Axxe 1, EPS-1, Promars, MC-202, TR-606

Hello,
Michael Boddicker played the vox sample on an E-mu Emulator (1st version). The same sound also appears
as a countermelody under the chorus of "Human Nature". The sample sounds like it was recorded direct
from Michael Jackson's voice.
The Emulator had a sound of it's own, but you could probably get away with a decent emulation (no pun intended)
on something like an Ensoniq Mirage.
Early eight-bit samplers didn't use multi-samples, and the formants didn't track. You could also possibly pull
off a version of it with a Roland V-Synth, as even though it's 16-bit and digital, it doesn't multisample
(unlike most modern samplers). You'd only have to turn off the formant tracking, then use a cosm block
(or effects) to bit-reduce the audio.
Obviously, you won't get the same sound because the original sample sounds like it was captured from MJ.
