I just realized what I want - A true hardware Maschine

I'd go with an Octatrack - although those'll run you around $1300 - theres no drum pads, and you need to load the samples into it. Best used alongside the Machinedrum, also by Elektron (they make the Octatrack). Once again expensive.

Mate, what you really want is an Octatrack. The sequencing is as solid as it can be, the machine is killer, and what you can do if you like Maschine's sample library is simply buy a flashcard and load all Maschine's samples in it, and then you'll have them all at your disposal in the Octatrack.

That is EXACTLY what I did.

In fact, I also like Maschine's sample library, and have routed a directory on Ableton to load stuff straight from it...

You won't be able to make beats on the fly, as the Octatrack doesn't have pads etc., but it's a h**l of a hardware... the sample mangling is great (I'm most into sound-designing ambient stuff) and you can loop whatever you'd like... The effects are simple but great...

So, the octatrack is cool but isn't it 8 note polyphony? (or 8 track whatever)
Are you locked to quantization like the monomachine or is there more flexibility

Always thought it looked very fun but seemed like it was more for whole-finished-part per track or remix rather than building stuff sample-per-pad then track like an MPC/MV
