My guess - the Long Arm and Something Bad sound like a Yamaha FM synth to me. The Moon and Traverse songs sound like Romplers for the majority of it, possibly layered with FM synth/s.

Are you sure "Something Bad" sounds like a Yamaha synth? Because Warren was using a Korg O1/W during that time.goom wrote:My guess - the Long Arm and Something Bad sound like a Yamaha FM synth to me. Sorry, but the O1/W is from 1991.bigman2005 wrote:Are you sure "Something Bad" sounds like a Yamaha synth? Yes, and that track is from 1995.Alex E wrote:Sorry, but the O1/W is from 1991.bigman2005 wrote:Are you sure "Something Bad" sounds like a Yamaha synth? I have no clue if I'm correct. I'm also not familiar with any Zevon besides Werewolves of London.bigman2005 wrote:Are you sure "Something Bad" sounds like a Yamaha synth? I did own an 01wfd for 10 years or so, and I don't recall any sounds from that sounding like the synth in Something Bad. It could be aftermarket or custom 01w sounds that I hadn't heard before.
I listened the opening of the track again, and it still sounds like a Yamaha FM synth to me. Possibly an SY series, or TX81Z, or other variety. It's just a guess on my part though. I could be wrong...

I probably should mention that, yes, it was a Korg 01/W making that sound for "Something Bad", it's called the "Tonebender".

Re: What synthesizer are these?
In the 1989 ones I hear a D-50, DX7 II, and S-50. The three big 80’s synths of the early 90’s and late 80’s along with the M1.
Korg, Casio, Alesis, and Yamaha (Minilogue, WK-7600, SK-1, CT-X3000, SR-16, MX49)
FL Studio 12, VSTs, MIDI keyboard
Non synths include string, woodwind, percussion, and toys for SFX.
