Emu Xtreme Lead
Hi!
I'm going to purchase this little synth, but i have a question.. Does it have the classics VA waveforms like saw, square and so on?
Thanks, Giacomo.

Shall we wait for balma to answer?
yes it does. Look for the manual online (e-mu legacy hardware downloads e.g.), and review the Preset listing and Instrument listing subsections in the Appendix

It has some waveform samples, but the strenght of this ROM is percussions and drumkits.
The QROM has the best waveform samples. Also Beat Garden has a nice collection.

Re: Emu Xtreme Lead
Is the Vintage Keys ROM worth looking at (assuming NovationLover wants basic analog-like waveforms, as in VAs)? The list says there are lots of single-cycle "analogish" waveforms, either generic or attributed to some real synth...balma wrote:It has some waveform samples, but the strenght of this ROM is percussions and drumkits.

I would wait until you get it before buying any extra roms - often times you will find there is actually an extra rom already installed in emu gear.

Re: Emu Xtreme Lead
Agree. The Xtreme leads and mo phatt ROMS are betweem the most common ROMS, since they are factory included on XL7 and MP7 models. They are also the cheaper ones.
haven't use the vintage keys yet. I have the Qrom, techno synth Construction yard and Beat Garden from Rob Papen, Mo Phatt, Xtreme leads and Protean.
All of them have very cool and cheesy stuff.
One of the most wanted is the World Expedition ROM, wich can cost even more than the unit itself.
Is better to get a non'traditional ROM. I'm sure they will cost a lot more $ in a few years....

Re: Emu Xtreme Lead
It blows out most of the synths I've used during my whole life in terms of functionality. They are multitask synths with a customizable engine.
The preset patches of most of the ROMS could sound dated today, but this synth, has one of the biggest modulation matrices ever released on digital synths, a super arpeggiator and an advanced sequencer, plus many interesting features like one chorus per voice (you can use from 1 to 12 voices per patch), 50 different filters, etc. Is a very versatile engine. So. it depends of the user if the sound is "modern" or dated.
