The History of the Octave Cat synthesizer 1976

Hey! I'm happy to announce the release of my first deep-dive synth video, for one of my faves, The Cat synthesizer! This is an in-depth romp featuring an exclusive interview with the inventor himself, performances, and a ton more! Check it out and share it with anyone who may be interested in this s...

Re: Sequential Bought by Focusrite

Certainly curious if they begin to merge Novation and Sequential designs. Chris Huggett (Novation's big time designer) is sadly gone, so we will never see the 2 minds collaborate. Focusrite overall...I suppose they make solid audio interfaces! Dave his given so much to electronic music so it's good ...

Re: Korg Polysix- Really short clicking Decay on anything <5. Envelope adjustment?

Using the plugin as a control is probably not the best idea. I only have experience with the Mono/Poly (similar architecture) and the envelope on that also had a strange taper. Someone with another P6 will surely chime in, but I suspect that is just how the envelope works, and in lots of cases havi...

Re: Synthesisers: technology vs composition

People that lose touch with new music think it's all going to s**t. Well, just browse through Bandcamp (where most new electronic music is self-released) or download Spotify, pay the monthly fee and explore new artists. There is a boom in music of every degree of complexity. One of the biggest genre...

Re: Novation Circuit Tracks (second gen Circuit) announced

Just reserved one. I'm a huge fan of the originals and this is great update on it! Some of my fave new features: -USB lithium battery is great and elimnates the old brick PSU or 6 "AA" batteries. -MicroSD for tons of samples and packs -Full size midi ports with a thru -Sample directly with an audio ...

Re: Mark Isham the hitcher score end credits

Don't know the clip, but Mark Isham doesn't get mentioned enough. He has a buchla modular he posts jams on instagram with. Really could be anything, and likely isn't a preset.

Fun fact, he also played trumpet for David Sylvian of Japan.

Re: Effects Pedals - Connect To Mixer?

A better option with looper pedals and mixers is something like a Mackie 1202. Having the ability to hit a switch and send a channel to a bus is way better than using the Aux sends with a looper. Use aux sends for other FX. On the 1202 I connect the looper (I use a pigtronix infinity) by sending Alt...

Re: changing sustain pedal polarity

It's not elegant, but I have a yamaha sustain that I simply opened up and reversed the mechanism. It hasn't had an issue since but obviously I can't recommend that unless you are into ghetto hacks.

Did you search the forum. There have been a number of Dw8000 fixes and threads. I'd start there.

Re: Korg Electribe S (ES-1) Firmware and Factory Sounds

Seems that the old electribes have been abandoned by Korg, but there is one dude who seems very knowledgeable about the chip itself. http://electribe.cc/wp/about/ . Currently there is only an OS upgrade for the Er1. Perhaps he will open things up to the ES1.

Re: Ensoniq EPS sampling pitch problem..??

No idea what that "repair shop" is talking about. Granted, I've only had the EPS-16, and ASR. Neither of those have any weird pitch issues. What you sample is what you get. Sample rate has nothing to do with the pitch of the sample, but only effects the quality. I'd first check to be sure your defau...

Check the voltage regulators. They could be fried, which has happened to mine in the past.
