Re: Help identifying difference is E-Mu Procussion models

E-Mu redid the look of some of their modules, the internals are the same. That module is related to the original Proteus, differing only in the samples in ROM. Notice the Proteus 1 (1989), the first version had slots (cosmetic, or maybe cooling), later version had a different faceplate but still the...

Re: Win10 wav bit depth - how to find?

I also find Windows treatment of audio file information to be a PITA. I either open the file in an app that does display bit depth or copy it to a Mac

Re: Synths with 12db Low Pass Filter

2 pole = 12dB/octave, it's a description of the filter's rolloff behavior. Each pole added to a filter adds another 6dB to the slope. State variable, Parker/Steiner, ladder, etc. are types of filter designs. They can be any number of poles. The more poles, the more extreme the reduction of frequenci...

Re: What kind of synth/sound

The synths are pretty buried in the mix. I hear a string-like sound and I hear a flute-like sound doubling the guitar melodies. It's based on a traditional folk song and the synths are trying to give the feel of bagpipes and/or tinwhistles. Neither are distinctive and could be just about anything. Q...

Re: Korg Poly 800 sequencer and Yamaha

Here's the secret sauce:

1. Korg MIDI OUT to Yamaha MIDI IN

2. Set Yamaha to MIDI channel 2!!!

3. Hit play on the Korg

The Poly 800 sends the keyboard and joystick data on MIDI channel 1, but sends the sequencer data on channel 2.

Re: Which Vintage Synth Can Accomplish This Sound?

Almost anything analog. It actually sounds like a Farfisa combo organ, so just a sawtooth with quick vibrato and a fixed filter to taste with little to no resonance and you're done.

Re: Robot Rock sound on Korg Minilogue xd

Post a link to some audio and let's hear what you've gotten so far.

A Prophet has no velocity, so turn that off on the Korg. Experiment with the synced oscillator to find the frequency that gives the amount of nasality you're after before you try sweeping the pitch.

Re: Time to grow up from the DJX

I'm not sure if the P-125 is the right thing. Is it versatile enough? Can it be used with VST plugins easily? Or is there a better tool out there for composing? I love the grand piano voice on it, the heavy weighted keys, and that it has a full 88 keys, but I don't find myself "playing piano" as mu...

Re: Hardware MIDI sequencer

You'll also want something that can import Standard MIDI files (SMF). Nobody makes a standalone sequencer that does this any more.

Take a look at used Akai MPCs, unless you have the budget for a new one.

Re: Sequential Bought by Focusrite

Maybe Yamaha can buy Focusrite now. That would definitely Make Dave retire  A lot of the Slutspace chatter is how the P5/10 v4 is Dave's farewell gift. Remember how he always said he didn't want to revisit the past? That changes when you hit 65 and see a lot more past behind you than future ahe...

Mr R do you know if the SQ1 uses the same inductive proximity key switches as the SD-1/EPS16+?
Nope...SQ1 uses a cheaper, non-aftertouch keybed.

Re: Newby with a Novation UltraNova

The Librarian program doesn't allow me to listen to these individual sounds on the computer Of course not, you have to temporarily load them into the synth to audition them. See p.9 in the librarian manual: Transferring a patch from the Librarian Any patch, in any folder, may be immediately loaded ...
