Re: Roland 909 Day
I kinda think they would want to do a Boutique TB-03 before a TR-08/9/7/6. People seem pretty happy with the TR-8--I certainly adore mine--but the prevailing opinion appears to be that the TB-3 is less than it could have been. Relegating the decay and envelope depth controls to the gimmicky touchpad...

Re: Any Known Bands that used the Korg Poly 61?
Early albums from Black Tape for a Blue Girl contain a lot of Poly 61. Check out The Rope and Mesmerized by the Sirens for some moody, ambient stuff. Sam Rosenthal (of BTfaBG and Projekt Records) released a solo album called Before the Buildings Fell that was made with nothing but a Poly 61, a delay...

Re: Reaktor/Sinebeat issue.. HELP
The output scheme for sinebeats seems a bit convoluted, but it wouldn't be difficult to add switches to the outputs that would allow you to use MIDI keys to control whether the channel can be heard or not. A simpler alternative would be to use single outs on Sinebeats and then put the 4ch Mixer betw...

Re: MFB Synth II Legato
Thanks for the tip, I wasn't aware there was a Yahoo group for this instrument. Sorry to hear that there is no legato play from the keyboard, but it's a great instrument all the same. I guess I'll continue to use it primarily from the sequencer. I'm not sure why so many say the sequencer is quirky/f...

MFB Synth II Legato
I've had an MFB Synth II for a while now and have mainly used it with its internal sequencer. From this sequencer, you tie notes together and they will play legato. I have noticed, though, that when playing from a keyboard I can't get it to play legato notes. The envelopes always re-trigger when I h...

Re: Applied Acoustic Systems VA-1 going cheap
Thanks for the tip on this one. Well worth the price of entrance. I had tried the Ultra Analogue out a while ago before I got my new computer. I was bent on getting an analogue modeling synth plugin and had my range narrowed down to this, the V Station, and a synth from Cakewalk. In the end I liked ...

Re: MFB Synth II owners; a question.
If you can muddle through it, I would suggest consulting the German language version of the manual from the MFB website. There are some inaccuracies in the English language manual. I'm not sure if these extend to the MIDI CC mappings, but some of the Function parameters listed in the English manual ...

Re: VCO1: The VSE Compilation Submission Guidelines
I would love to contribute, but seeing as all my completed tracks are both covers and full of flaws it's not really an option. I'd think I'll wait until the next compilation. I just hope this one is successful enough to warrant that. Do you really think the VSE crowd would tolerate having only one ...

Re: VCO1: The VSE Compilation Submission Guidelines
At the top of the page that Zamise linked to is a link for the Prelinger Archive. I've been mining this source for cool Cold War era samples--especially films about nuclear weapons research and Soviet p**n perverting American youth. Lots of other cool stuff there as well, like the instructional film...

Re: Winter NAMM 09 flood begins
@ MoTU's BPM, why go to so much trouble to make it look like there is a hardware component? Right down to the phones output and DVD drive, it seems a bit silly to make it look so much like hardware. Still it seems like a neat program--exactly the sort of thing I could get into. I'm really excited ab...

Re: MFB 502 issues
Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, I did hold play when turning it on. The 502 has been picking up MIDI fine from the Synth II when the Synth II is the master, but not while the II is a slave to something else. I tried using another drum machine in place of the 502 and it didn't work either, so it se...

Re: The End Of Subtractive As We Know It....
In the liner notes for 242's Pulse album, there is an extensive list of hardware used in the creation of the album. In an interview in Keyboard Magazine, Daniel B. speaks at length about how working with modular synths on the Pulse album was like a revelation to him, since he hadn't really gone that...

Re: My first Virus
I should also mention that Virus isn't the fastest and the most intuitive synth to program. This is because many of the knobs have dual functionality which you access by pressing shift-button (IIRC). It doesn't sound very complex - and it isn't - but it still tampers with the intuitiveness and prog...

I've had an MFB 502 for quite a few years and I love it. It fits perfectly with the style of minimal techno/ambient that I do. I'll admit it's a bit of an acquired taste, though. It is more for laid back early electronic style tunes rather than booming dance tracks. The kick has very little punch (I...

pour-furets, I'd love to hear the track you're talking about. Upload that sucker! Sorry it took me so long to get around to this. I haven't logged into my Soundclick account for ages. Here are a couple of Evolver examples. Please note that I have a rather liberal interpretation of what acid is--any...
