Re: What is your "Sound"?
i tend to throw various delays and reverbs on tons of s**t... sometimes saturated to h**l and sometimes just subtle enough that one wouldnt notice it's there until it's taken away from the mix. i favor sine waves (see my user name) and triangle waves. and apparently alot of my tunes would be good to...

Re: Apartments and studio monitors...
something else that should be mentioned here... alot has been said about mixing, ect. at reasonable volumes. iv found, being in the mining industry, that alot of people dont know just how fragile ones sense of hearing is. any prolonged exposure to 80-85dB can cause permanent hearing damage. and when...

Re: electric bass compression and DI questions
the thing the drew me towards the jazz bass was that it was capable of a broader range of sounds and character. it seems like every Ibanez bass i'v ever played had action problems and was only good for rock or metal. i could be wrong but that was just my take on them. plus the look of the jazz bass...

Re: electric bass compression and DI questions
i dont plan to crank the drive up on the SansAmp to get fuzz or distortion. i'v got a few pedals for that if i ever wanted it. iv used a SansAmp DI before in an actual studio and absolutely loved it. i'v wanted one ever since. the one i want ( this one ) has three programable channels which i like b...

Re: electric bass compression and DI questions
I don't understand the logic. Pick the DI, the pre, or the amp or maybe a combination of the 2. Running all those together is going to be a pain in the a*s on gain staging. s**t, you could run them parallel, correct phase/comb filter issues and make some monumental bass, but I have no idea why you ...

electric bass compression and DI questions
gotta get the ol' bass sounding better. i'm looking into compressors for the studio but cant decide if i want to get like a 2 channel rack mount unit or just a compressor pedal for the bass. i'm not playing live right right now but if/when i do i'll be using the bass live so i would more than likely...

Re: Another ridiculous connection question
Basically, I am wanting to run 2 vocalists using different mics and pres into one effect box. This is just for practice/live use, and I didn't want to add any more boxes into the mix. if i understand this correctly, which i probably dont... couldnt you just run both mic pres into a mixer then run t...

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
Yamaha CP-20 (Yamaha's answer to the Rhodes i guess) electric piano. - FREE!
works perfect. or it did last time i played it (3 years ago?) had to leave it with my cousin when i moved away from the area. thing was too f**k big to fit it in anything when i moved.

Re: Apartments and studio monitors...
as long as it's during the day and not during the night time hours when someone might be trying to sleep or something, you should be able to tell who ever complains to get f**k. the apartments i live in currently are brand new... (too damn expensive) and i share a wall with an aspiring young drummer...

Re: laptop suggestions for mixing
Either look for an old Macbook with firewire, or save a bit more and get an newer Macbook Pro with firewire, or wait a couple of weeks til the new macbook pros come out and get one of the current ones on closeout, shouldn't be much over $800. :o  Apple sells MacBookPros' at close out for $80...

Re: not synths but still a "vs"
firewire is rock solid, thats why its the standard. USB2 is only in the cheaper devices after all. yeah, everything i'm reading online pretty much says the same thing. offtopic, joey, what version of Logic are you running? i'm also looking into a DAW. of course i have garage band but havent even op...

Re: Electro Harmonix Memory Boy Analog Delay
Thanks for the insight, fellas. After hearing the Stereo MM w/ Hazarai, I'm leaning in that direction. It just does a crapload of stuff and the looping feature looks (and sounds) really fun. Just have to wait a little longer and save up... It's the most fun I've ever had with a delay pedal. I set u...

Re: not synths but still a "vs"
yeah... i'v been reading about that yamaha dealio and... i think i'm gonna pass on it. so i'm thinking Firewire is the way i'm going to go. as far as a mixer goes, i'll be buying a small one just so i dont have to keep unplugging and plugging s**t into the interface. so problem sovled there... my Ma...
