So I was doing some reading into DJ Shadow and found out that he uses "Tears for Fears - Sowing the Seeds of Love" in *my fav song" Midnight in a Perfect World. So I got Tears for Fears and tried to figure out how he did it. I am lost. There are always drums or lyrics over the part that he grabbed. ...

Newbie question but...
Can't MPCs capture loops and overdub like that?

I got a Yamaha MG10/2 for 50 bucks, mint on eBay. Does what I need it to do.

good stuff dude.

I like Pinnacle the best.

The pulse sound in Perpetual Nonsense, EA1 or microKorg? I like it.

Reaktor is def #1. I just started playing with it, I wish I knew more. Very fun.

I have to put Reason in here as well. It is what I have learned on and played with for over a year now. I think it is a great learning tool. I will continue to use it until I find it cannot do things I want it to.

Why not a Korg ES-1?

If you look on eBay they can be found for 150-200 most of the time

I would like to make breakbeat/jungle or big beat ... It is a struggle, I feel like I am getting nowhere!

What does a shaper do?

I understand the other parts of the synth but never understood what the shaper did and why I would use etc.

Nvm I got it w0000

I noticed that when I hit C2 on my keyboard...it plays two keys up...in every program.

I am using an EDIROL PCR-30
I am using MIDI...not usb.
My MIDI input is a Creative Live! Audigy 2 ZS

I did not have any. I think I played with Fruity Loops (then...that is what it was still called) in 02-03 ... my senior year.
