Re: Yamaha synth (with pictures) ?
It's one of recent PSR series arrangers. Judging by the display, it's one of the low-mid models (below S700). Looks similar to PSR-S650. But with such dark photos we can't be sure.

Bohm Dynamic 12/24 English Manual available for download
Hi, Recently I bought Bohm Dynamic 12/24 4op FM module from UK. Unfortunately it isn't working, but included with it were some nice papers - namely mythical english manual, review from march '86 issue of "Elektor" and two brochures. As there were no scans available for this manual (and some people e...

Re: Hohner/Elex K4 need info on power supply build
My Elex was humming too, but the bad capacitors weren't in the PSU - they were on chorus boards.

Re: New polysynth project - now with 8 voices & bitimbrality
Thank you guys for the words of encouragement :) I'll tell you funny story regarding the tuning. I was really baffled when I was troubleshooting the second set of voicecards. They couldn't keep in tune at all. Heck, the tuning was off almost right after autotuning (which, nevertheless, completed as ...

Re: KORG Prologue
@Adamstan What would be advantage of designing them that way? With "always return to zero"? It's just a little easier to code - few lines less than retriggering from current level. But nothing big. It can be sometimes useful, that's why DX7 has switch for it, but I dislike it as default behaviour o...

Re: KORG Prologue
^ Explaining the envelope issue is really hard to do for some reason. Even when I messaged Korg about it, they didn't quite understand me. Its my #1 issue with the Monologue. Makes playing slow attack leads sound terrible. Yeah, it's pretty bizarre, as they seem to not get the difference between "r...

Re: New polysynth project - now with 8 voices & bitimbrality
We are (me and two my friends) working on another prototype. The version shown in above demo still isn't suitable for manufacturing - it needs some more mechanical changes, and another PCB revisions. If everything goes well, it will also feature 4 part multi mode (5+1+1+1 or 4xMono). However, I'm st...

Another demo:
I decided to rewire VCO FM from exponential to linear, as it allows for better tracking.

Re: New polysynth project - now with 8 voices & bitimbrality
Yeah, it might be still to early for preorders. I'm currently working on software for this - mostly on MIDI implementation and various utility functions. I'm also thinking how to squeeze multitimbral in it, as hardware is capable of it (each voicecard is complete separate synthesizer with its own CP...

Re: New polysynth project - now with 8 voices & bitimbrality
Here's quick photo of prototype with enclosure - final look should be close to that http://wstaw.org/m/2017/09/14/WP_20170904_20_58_49_Pro.jpg To put it into a rack one has to remove wooden sides and put on rack ears instead. The panel is 5U. More photos, demos and hopefully webpage coming soon :-)

Gotta Catch Em All (Pokemon theme) '80s cover
Here's the track I've been working on last week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CNHn1m9leE Opening theme song from the "Pokemon" anime, played and recorded '80s style. I used two analog polys that I've built - older "B5" keyboard for second lead and "sync-lead" solo, and latest 8 voice module prot...

Re: Standalone Sequencer
Or Yamaha QY-700. It too has 32 tracks and two Midi outs, and you can set output channel separately for each track (sending it either to internal synth engine, or to any of the outputs). It also has nice, big backlit screen.salwa wrote:Check also Kawai Q80EX. 32 tracks, 32 MIDI chanels, two MIDI outs.

Re: Voltage-controlled digital oscillators?
There were also voltage controlled digital oscillators, where high-frequency VCO was used directly as a clock for the lookup table. Cymbal/hihat module from Simmons SDS-V works like this. The chain was VCO -> counter -> EPROM -> DAC.
