Loving my new MPC 2000, however I've got a problem
I've managed to get an MPC 2000 and it's finally got me into proper sampling. I have an S900 as well and have just got rid of an S3000XL. I find the MPC really easy to use. The only problem is that 4 of the pads have stopped working. They are the last vertical set of 4 so that's pad4, 8, 12 and 16. ...

Which Akai MPC
I'm interested in buying an Akai MPC. I'm thinking I should get the 1000 as it can take wav files and it has modern features such as a USB port. Does it have editing software for a computer? It seems to me that this is a series that suffers from overinflated prices in classified ads. I might be wron...

First Synth With Spring Loaded Pitch Wheel
Continuing with the firsts theme. I was thinking what was the first synth with a spring loaded pitch wheel? My thoughts are that it could be early Roland synths like the SH3a. I simply don't know though, can anyone enlighten us on this.

Re: Gear that's simple and indespensible
At the moment I mainly do stuff in the box. I can't afford to interface my desk, synths and other pieces with my computer. My go to plugin for coming up with song ideas is the Korg Legacy M1. My second favourite piece would probably be the coffee machine.

Re: First synth to allow "naming" of patches?
The DX1 was released in 1984 one year after the DX7. I read in an old SOS article that the DX7/DX9 were the first synths to name patches. I think that the Kawai SX240 and the Obie Matrix weren't released till 84.

Re: How much money have you spent on music gear in your life?
I got into this synth lark in 2005, since then I have spent a fair bit on equipment. At first I was spending money on synthesizers and plugins. Then I decided to get a very cheap studio setup together. I'm currently doing a degree in music tech so not much money for gear at the moment. Moog Phatty £...

Re: S3000XL Backlight
Thanks for the infomation.
I'm going back to Huddersfield soon so I should be able to get some foil and leave it in the capable hands of the Studio Technicians.

S3000XL Backlight
My backlight has gone on my S3000XL. Does anybody know anywhere in Yorkshire where they fit new backlights for samplers? On another note i'm getting a little frustrated with the S3000XL, as I don't use it as much as I should. I find it quite an ordeal sampling into the machine. It's nothing really t...

The Prophet with the Hairy Chest.
Fist the worst (Korg M1), second the best (DX7), Third the one with the hairy chest (Prophet 5???) This is something that I have been thinking about for a while now. I know that the Korg M1 and the DX7 are the top 2 selling synths ever (the M1 at n.o 1. Does anyone know the third top selling synthes...

Logic and MIDI Keyboard Trouble
I have a problem with Logic Pro 7. I use Logic with a Yamaha DX7 II master keyboard and a Edirol UA25 interface. After doing something in Logic the MIDI Keyboard wont play any of the MIDI in Logic. The MIDI Still plays when you manually input things in the matrix editor. I have had this problem a co...

Ableton Live controller problems
Hello to alll VSE forumers. I have a problem with Ableton live 5 and controling it with my DX7 II keyboard. The keys work fine with it, however I would like to use the 32 buttons provided to trigger scenes and to mute different tracks. I've tried using the key map switch but I think it is something ...
