I just measured the three tiers on my QL-699: * Bottom tier has just under 15 inches of clearance, back to front; * Middle tier has about 13 3/4 inches of clearance; * Top tier has 12 inches of clearance - arm length is the same as the middle tier, but the adjustment knob is on the front and that ta...

And yes, I've worked with computers for most of my life, and I haven't heard one sound like that "S&H computer effect" either. Except for my first computer, a Radio Shack Color Computer, where I wrote a program that created that sound effect using a random number generator. ;) I guess I was a synth...

Hopefully they've got an Ion II in the works. There were only a few things I've heard people would like changed though, like maybe a bit of an angle on the display, and maybe more polyphony. IMO - they pretty much got it right the first time. Would be nice but I wouldn't count on it. A couple folks...

Keith Emerson : Brain Salad Surgery & Emerson, Lake & Powell You mean Emerson, Lake and Palmer ? :D For BSS , yeah, that was the classic Emerson, Lake & Palmer - prototype Moog constellation, Emo's modular, Carl's synthesized percussion. But the 2nd album I listed is the 1986 album with Cozy Powell...

I found it easier to list albums with awesome synth rather than individual songs (less typing!) Keith Emerson : Brain Salad Surgery & Emerson, Lake & Powell Geoff Downes : Yes' Drama , Asia's debut & Alpha , Buggles Golden Age of Plastic , iCon Rubicon Tony Banks : Selling England By the Pound...

I liked the QS7.1 so much I picked up a 2nd about a year later! :D How useful you find the presets will depend on the style of music you play & what types of sounds you need. I don't know how different the sounds on the QS6 are vs. the QSx.1, but on the .1 I like the pianos, organs & several of the ...

MIDI-assisted program setups
I've been playing keys for many years, but haven't dug too deeply into the world of MIDI. I have 3 synths in my rig & many custom patches & "mixes" (as Alesis calls them) programmed for specific songs. Now that my band has several dozen tunes worked up, I'm thinking there must be a better way to pre...
