Yes the K2x00 series have virtual analog style facilities. It is not intended to be an immitation where as synths refered to as a VA is typically designed for the sole purpose of emulating the sound and interface of an analog synth. There were many synthesizers with digitaly implemented features aki...

Just a note on the ions keyboard - it is a Fatar TP/7BA. There is apparently a drop-in replacement keybed that has a sturdier feel. Fatar weighted 49 key TP/9S. I haven't confirmed this myself but I'm certenly considering trying it out. There are not any complete specs of that keybed that I can find...

The DX7 and Tx81Z both have 12bit DACs. It is possible to emulate Dx7 sounds on the TX81z with careful programming. The TX81z has 4ops as opposed to 6 but the 4 ops have several different waveforms allowing you to create complex modulation without additional operators. The TX81z is famous for the "L...

You're not going to find anything easier than the MIDIbox honestly. There are basic "stamps" and other mcu out there with complete IDE tools but the midibox already implements the difficult and sensitive stuff. The only alternative that would be easier would be implementing a sequencer on an existin...

Going the MIDIBOX route you are not limited to using the provided sequencer application. There are a few different sequencer projects going on using the MIOS operating environment. You can implement your own design mostly in C if you wish. Check out some of the user projects - http://www.midibox.org...

ION is a very versatile synth. If you search the forum you will see many threads discussing (and arguing) its ins and outs. A few high profile artists using the synthesizer must say something for it. There are those who hate it and those who love it. I am the latter. Contrary to what many say I find...

Thanks for the info Maschinengeist! I appreciate your assistance. Well I think I'm going to take the plunge. I'm going to order some samples directly from fairchild. Looks like it will cost me less than $7 for 10 with shipping costs. Looked at the J111 datasheet, still unclear on how to test jfets w...

I really appreciate the offer but I'm more interested in fixing it myself. As for the service manual PM me somewhere to send it and its yours! I used to burn and install game console modchips using various MCUs for a local high volume company so I do have a small amount of experience. I am proficien...

ION: Dead Main and headphone outputs!
Is there anyone out there experiencing a similar issue? The AUX outputs are working great but the effects are only routed through the main outputs... I've talked to a few people on the Alesis ION Yahoo group but I am yet to talk to someone who directly knows what needs to be done. I talked to Numark...

I don't consider myself to be a raciest - I just coincidentally have a distaste for some specific behaviours of people that are stereotypically associated with non specific stereotypes... Anyway I have a peeve with people who have double standards, and I get right pissed at people that have superior...

I stopped listing all my kit because it's a little austentatious and promotes fan-boy behavior (gear worship), which i feel is unmusical and just tacky.... it's just kinda rude, imho. This is exactly the way I feel. I don't have anything to brag about. Not that I would anyway. I don't see the point...

Are there different versions of the 106? Mine is just... well... I have no idea how Roland sold any of these. The chassis is weak, when I lift mine I feel it bowing. The buttons on mine have alignment problems that have probally arisin due to the flimbsy chassis. They tend to get stuck in the down p...

I sold my Juno-6 last winter and I regret it. I've since grabbed a 106 and alpha 2. The 106 sounds good to me but 4 voices have died in mine and I feel the build quality is really bad all around. The alpha is very different sounding... you can get a few of the juno sounds fairly faithfully but it os...
