Re: Worst.. hardware sequencer.. EVER

Great thread! I have some pics to share. I'm still using the QX7 as a sketch idea sequencer. I like the big red numbers that I can see across the room and probably since I've been using it since they were first made, have gotten quite instinctive with it. It was my first MIDI sequencer. The QX7 was ...

Re: New Korg Kronos????

Nice work on the tunes!! Thanks, I appreciate the comment! Regarding the sequencers, there is a lot of fussing over on the Korg forums that the Kronos sequencer is actually a step back from the M3 (Expanded) since it doesn't have the piano roll editor or the new track view with drag and drop arrang...

Re: New Korg Kronos????

So 9 synthesis engines is pretty cool. But do they "talk" to one another? For instance, can I route my killer acoustic piano patch through the virtual MS10 filter? Yes. No, but you can make vector synthesis patches or layered patches that use multiple synth engines. It is nine synth engines, but it...

Virus TI song

My YouTube compression wasn't the greatest, but I think the grungy quality lends itself to the overall song.

Virus Song

(running time 2:45)

All drums and sounds are from the TI. Recorded to OASYS' HDR, to save polyphony.

Greeeeeaaaaaat Thread! In case it wasn't mentioned:

DARK CITY trailer

Percussive sample mangling, with low synth thrown in. Really like the result. I never get tired of multi-pitched tambourines. :D

P.S. I have the soundtrack to 2010 and I believe a Yamaha DX1 was also used on that.

What do you mean by that? Small in size, power?
I thought it was pretty apparent - a basic starter, easier to produce micro module compared to a full featured, flagship behemoth.

Small = Blofeld

Large = Stromberg

The virus offers more sound shaping capabilities than all those synths combined except maybe the nord modular, I'd say the price is pretty damn justifiable. Agreed. Even the JP8000 was $2,300 once. Years ago. I paid $1,700 for the Virus C. A couple of years, later, the TI desktop comes out and is o...

Me bad. I've been way busy. It's still wrapped up. I want to digitally record it, the first time I play the record. I just have to set up the turntable and the computer.

I'll let you know! :D

i registered just to say thanks for the great post. i've been researching as much as possible about carpenter soundtracks because i'm in the midst of scoring a horror film myself, and we've been referencing early synth soundtracks as a starting point. keep em coming! Lucky you....maybe. (Depends on...
