I think it is Ubies Studio causing problems. Jackd is not working 100%, however I can make the link from the midisport to Zyn. Yet, the delay trigger is really bad and endless looping. I'll try what you said and reply back. Midisport driver is installed and I did some research and there is a bug with Rosegarden with Zyn running Ubuntu. The looping and trigger delays. At least Midisport was in Synaptic and Ubies repos.

Open Suse is great O/S. I have 10.1 installed on a other box. I will have to check out some the programs you listed. I do love Hydrogen. You are 100% correct on that tasty program. I am thinking about putting realtime kernel on my Ubie. It is unstable and do not want to jack my ubie box.

I tried using Ams and it works some times. It is a poor design soft modulator synth. Qsynth reminds of PAiA.

Most linux distro's like Ubuntu and Musix have a Live/install CD and you do not need to install it. Just have the CD rom to boot first. The live CD runs slower than being on the HD. At least you can test drive before installing.

I agree with ryryoftokyo. There is so many synths out there and it can be mind boggling on what to get. Mainly on what type of style of music or sound you are going for? Name some bands is a good start. There is oodles of people here that can name that synth off a band.
