Re: Help with Yamaha CS2x timing issues
You can definitely sync the arpeggiator to MIDI clock -- just turn the tempo all the way to the left and it'll change from a BPM value to "MIDI". If that's what you have it set to, then I'm not sure what'd be happening here, though I guess it could be a problem with the sequencer itself.

Re: choosing a new baby
Blofeld? Not a lot of knobs, but there's a killer modulation matrix in there.

Re: Blofeld update suggestions
I thought the delay fx I heard on some patches were OK too but that's just my opinion of course. After reading this I'll probably be more critical of the fx next time I play it! As far as basic delays go it's fine :) It only breaks down when you change the parameters while it's playing, in w...

Re: How to Overcome Blofeld Distortion Issue?
That problem is news to me! I haven't seen this myself, but there's quite a list of outstanding bugs on the Blofeld right now, most of which affect some people more than others (most are in the multi-mode, which I personally haven't used much). Waldorf has a patch on the way that aims to fix a lot o...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld... The Little Wonder Synth of The Decade!
Oh one more thing I should add, the older waldorf gear has permanent polyphony, an XT will always have 10 voices, a Q always 16. and a micro Q always 25. whereas the blofeld's voices drop if you use the wavetables or samples. I thought the microQ's polyphony was variable just like the Blofeld's -- ...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld... The Little Wonder Synth of The Decade!
There's no bug in the delay as such -- it's just not very good :) The problem is that you can't adjust the delay parameters in real-time without glitching the h**l out of the audio; apparently it's due to some limitation of the DSP chip used in the Blofeld and there's no way around it. A lot of the ...

Re: Synthesizer for Industrial?
Can I throw in the obligatory Blofeld recommendation? It's ridiculously capable for the price, and with its wavetables (turn the Brilliance on the oscillators up to 127 to get that beautiful aliased sound) it can make some crazy sounds, especially when you combine wavetables with FM, or throw in the...

I don't have a Nord Modular myself, but if you want an alternative editor I've heard good things about Nomad:

It's Java-based, so it runs on Mac OS X/Windows/Linux.

Re: Waldorf Blofeld - I'm Lovin' It!!
If I had any critisisms it's that the beastie does sometimes eminate clicks and pops - probably partly due to note starvation/wave sequencing and I personally think the display could have been nicer - maybe a high contrast white on blue. These are minor flaws though... Regarding the pops/clicks -- ...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld - I'm Lovin' It!!
I find that it is the easiest of all my hardware to create fresh patches on, even though it only has a few knobs, because the menues are so well laid out and visual. I don't have any other hardware to compare it to, but I agree that it's really easy to whip up a patch on the Blofeld -- the matrix g...

1.13 was just to facilitate sample transfers for the sample playback upgrade, AFAIK.

Re: The Blofeld's sample upgrade
I haven't bought the update myself yet, but a few people on the Waldorf user-forum mailing list have. From what I've seen there it seems pretty straightforward -- you can select samples just like you select wavetables on oscillators 1 and 2, and the actual samples can be multisamples (layered just o...

Re: Blofeld + RM1X vs. Machinedrum UW
I'm still a noob, but I'm very happy with my Blofeld -- it's a phenomenal "jack-of-all-trades" synth for the money. While I'm sure other synths have a nicer sound for various purposes, the Blofeld has enough features to take a stab at just about any kind of sound, the polyphony is very handy, and wi...
