Re: Doepfer dark energy
I thought you could use Moog CP251 and connect it's Lag out signal with Doepfer's VCO F input to achieve portamento. I've never worked wih CV signal so could someone informed confirm this?

Re: Stable free running LFOs with fine tuning
Obviously, sub-sonic and sonic range modulation has been done, but does any synthesizer modulate with a super-sonic oscillater? HFO, I guess? Yamaha DX7 modulates at frequencies below and over the audio range. It can also do very complex low or high freq oscillations to affect sound in many ways. F...

Re: FM8. Better than DX7?? Save me some money...
FM8 sounds great and can do much more than the DX7 but it doesn't have the basic tone of the DX7. Yes, I say it again - it doesn't sound like the DX7. You can dial in some of the DX sounds in FM8 in the same way you can do some Prophet sounds on the Nord Lead synths. If you want a DX7 get just that....

Re: DSI Evolver (desktop) Question
Personal attacks & Trolling - these won't be tolerated, please be nice! State your opinion by all means, but don't attack others because of theirs. Okay dipshit, put a sig under your name that says "please accept my opinion as invalid" Of course, you poor a*s linguistic skills already serve that pu...

Re: Noob question: Oscillator vs. Operator
Whilst the previous post is correct, a simple answer would be: they are the same thing - "Operator" is simply what Yamaha decided to call the oscillators in its 80s FM synths. It's not. Operator is a lot more than oscillator as Synthaholic said. A single operator is like the whole synth in itself f...

Re: Ridiculous ways to use synthesizers
You know, I agree, it was expressive. Any 1 year old kid could bang the c**p out of a rusty bucket in an equally expressive way. You don't need a synth for such kind of expression :-#

Yamaha CS10 - an apparent breach of synth's rights.

You're welcome
I think, all synthesizers are boring until you give them some life with your imagination. Even the mighty CS80.

Hi, I've got two web sites in my bookmarks that may help you.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~avanheck/ - click on the front panel and presets
http://personal.inet.fi/private/matador ... mples.html - more stactic recordings of the presets
So long, before the mods discover I've been here

Although logically, it is true that a softsynth must come with some sort of hardware and, thus, is a hardware synth too, why not drop this complicated logics and stick to the simple fact that software and hardware synthesizers are not the same categories of things? Obviously, a softsynth will remain...

A bit off topic but regarding the post above, I've found an old clip of CS80V tweaking on my hard disk. Just a bunch of various sounds I could squeeze from this synth with a CS1x controller + expression pedal. I think, at 1:15 it starts to sound a bit Vangels-ish. http://www4.webng.com/martinp268/cs...
