Wow I got lost in this thread, I didn't know you already got the model of the motherboard. Probably an USB floppy drive would be it, or making your own windows XP with the driver in it. Well, now that you returned it, you could get a better laptop with nforce chipset ;-) SATA drivers are not needed...

I actually just sent my HP laptop back for a refund. Dealing with their customer support was the biggest nightmare!! The model was a Pavilion dv9500 notebook, just so you guys know the compatibility issues for future reference. I am looking at Dells now; they offer XP preinstalled on their notebooks...

I had a friend help with the XP installation and ended up successful, at least with getting XP on the notebook. Its a long story, but after buying a USB floppy driver and using that for the pre-installation drivers, we finally got the OS on the laptop. The only problem is that the drivers that HP ga...

Once you get the info of what you have, just download the drivers, (usually a bunch of DLL files and some folders) copy the files to a diskette, -boot the windows installation and during the "F6 message" press F6, -insert the floppy diskette and wait til windows install prompts you to select wh...

Your notebook came with vista: 1) most likely the hard drive its as Dynamic Disk estructure or 2) its using the new NTFS filesystem or 3) the drive is sata and needs drivers (floppy with sata drivers (for your chipset) in it, to be loaded at the beginning of the installation, when the CD spins off ...

I need help with installing Windows XP
I have just purchased a new HP laptop, which came with the Windows Vista operating system. I want to switch to XP in order to use Reaktor 5, so I bought a copy of XP online that is OEM. When I put this XP cd in my laptop and boot up the notebook, it starts to set-up the installation of XP. A problem...

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to get a copy of Reaktor5. Does this come with a good VST host itself, or will I have to get one? If I need to get one, would Reason be my best option? I want the most versatile VST host I can get that works well with Reaktor, and will let me use as many other soft sy...

Vista is so new that many softsynth makers haven't had the time or wherewithal to port their synths over to the new OS...it can be a lot of work. Also, many of the Vista drivers for audio hardware are still a bit buggy for the same reasons...not to mention Vista itself is still a bit wet behind the...

A problem I've been seeing when looking at other threads under soft synths is the OS being used. It seems that Windows Vista is not a very good OS if you are planning on using soft synths. Could someone please help clarify why this is so? Also, all of the laptops that I've been interested in come wi...

If you’re just starting out I’d get the fastest PC laptop you can afford, a gig of RAM, a decent USB soundcard, a small MIDI controller like a Novation and a copy of Reason. Reason isn’t as CPU intensive as a normal VST host and a handful of softsyths which would be ideal for a laptop and from what...

They will drop due to new releases AMD mobile Phenom X2/X4, dual or cuad core on the move. New faster design also ultra low power. Intel state similar releases that month to catch up. I've been trying to find the release date of these processors, but am turning up empty handed. I guess that no spec...

I really want a soft synth that is not so heavily sample based, and that allows me to create any sound that I want. To me, the number of samples and presets readily available with the the software is not really of much importance. In terms of creativity, and being able to make the most advanced and ...

Would you (or anybody) by a chance know the cheapest vendor to buy from at these times?Thefumigator wrote:Prices for laptops are going to plummet in early July if you can wait. Also if battery life is of your concern, then take a look at new amazingly efficient processors being released in later june.
