Also, I looked in Device Manager and found my disk drive to be "FUJITSU MHW2160BH PL".
I viewed its details on its driver files and they are:
... system32\DRIVERS\disk.sys
system32\drivers\partmgr.sys

I can also update or uninstall the driver. Hopefully this makes things clearer.

Your notebook came with vista: 1) most likely the hard drive its as Dynamic Disk estructure or 2) its using the new NTFS filesystem or 3) the drive is sata and needs drivers (floppy with sata drivers (for your chipset) in it, to be loaded at the beginning of the installation, when the CD spins off ...
