Synth on "Melt With You"

Does anyone happen to know what synth was used on Modern English's "I Melt With You?" Just heard the song recently and wondered about it for the first time.

Need some feedback on Kawai

I've been noticing that Kawai synths typically go for a pretty bargin price on E-Bay. For those of you who have experience with Kawai, I'd like some feedback. Would you recommend that I invest in one? Why or why not?

Need a digital synth...

Currently, I only own a VA synth (Microkorg). While I love it, I'm wanting something with more and larger keys, and better polyphony. I'm also wanting to try something digital. I've heard that digital can be a nightmare to program, so i'm looking for something that is not too mind-boggling, budget-f...

Synths Used In New Order's "Perfect Kiss" Video?

Curious to know what synths Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Morris are using in this video? Any thoughts?

If you're into the retro sound and want some under $500 but with professional quality, I'd go with the Microkorg. I'm fairly new to synth as well, and I just love it.

Who are we talking to, anyway? The starter of this conversation hasn't replied and probably not even read these :D I just love this place. Nope, I've been reading them, and have been very entertained in the process :D Seriously, I'm definitely going to bid on the VL-1. If I get sick of it i'll just...

Casio VL-1...So Should I Get One?

I've been keeping an eye on some VL-1's on Ebay the past week. Very tempted to place a bid. For all of you who own one or have owned one is it worth it? I've never owned one, but it looks like a lot of fun (a sequencer on such a small instrument???) Give me some feedback.

Early Cure Synths

Prior to their incorporation of DX-7s and the like, does anyone know what synths The Cure used on their early work, particularly on the albums Seventeen Seconds, Faith and p**n?

Casio Synths

Been doing a little research on Casio synths produced in the 80s and early 90s. Has anyone here ever owned one or used one? Are any of them truly decent for a low-cost synth?

Thank you for all the replies so far, it's been quite helpful...keep em' coming! As far as the music I'm into, its basically modern rock/electronica, i.e., Joy Division, New Order, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, etc. Now regarding the synth itself, I want to stick with hardware for now. Some...

What Synth Should I Get Next?

Ok, I'm pretty new to synthesis, so I'm looking for some advice: I recently purchased my first synth, the Microkorg, an absolutely love it. However, the one thing that bothers me about it is a big one, and that is a) limited polyphony-only 4 voice and b) only 37 keys keys. I'm looking for another sy...
