People talk quite a bit about Mellotrons these days, but probably not on this forum since the Mellotron isn't a synthesizer. It is indeed a cool instrument. I have the MTron sample software, and I plan to get the Trons Collection which is bigger, and has samples from various Trons, Chamberlins, Orec...

I've never heard this band, but why does this guy need such a big mixer? He has, what, 2 keyboards? Is he also cutting the other band members into Space Echos and spring reverbs, like Lee Perry?

I guess that's why you go by the name "Stab Frenzy". I thought it was Romanian.

Hey, man, it's true. It only works for the wind "oscillators", though, like pipes, flutes, and horns. I don't want to go into detail because I don't want Behringer swooping in and photocopying my ideas, but some very complex things are possible when you're dealing with acoustic resonance. I haven't ...

Pluggo Jr., which is free, has a good ring mod.

Hematohm isn't free, and isn't actually a ring mod, but it's a frequency shifter, which can sound a lot like a ring mod, and it has some pretty cool features.

Re: I'm building an acoustic modular synth

This won't be one of those folk instruments with a bunch of junk all nailed onto a wooden plank and then hammered upon by some hippy, although I have the utmost respect for said hippies and their junk instruments. Hilarious  Check out this: http://www.maywadenki.com That's a cool website, not ...

Wikipedia would be a good place to start. Analog isn't a method of synthesis, it refers to the circuitry that makes up a device, and is contrasted with digital. There is actually some debate about what exactly the two terms mean and where the line is, and some synths involve digital oscillators and ...

Well, sure, but you could say all that for a regular modular synth as well.

I'm building an acoustic modular synth

Hi. I've been lurking a little while but this is my first post. I've been playing electric and electronic instruments for years, but I've recently become enamored with the complexity inherent in acoustic instruments. However, I'm also interested in the extensibility and interaction involved between ...
