Re: Using AKAI S3000XL with MIDI

Hi I just tried plugging the CZ-101 into the TR 505 and, surprisingly, it worked! my first MIDI noises :) so, I need to set something up with the AKAI S3000xl. I doubt that it is faulty as it seems to be in great condition.. any ideas please? do I need a more complex setup than just a MIDI keyboard ...

Re: Using AKAI S3000XL with MIDI

hi,
yes I tried using the synth waveforms it doesn't do anything..
yes there is a button on the front, which works fine to listen to the samples.

i think the MIDI is not corresponding, the 3000xl does not seem to notice that it has a MIDI keyboard plugged in!

Re: Using AKAI S3000XL with MIDI

Hi, yes when I go to 'edit sample' page, and play the keyboard, I can not hear anything. I am using the headphone socket from the sampler. I have found the 'program edit' page and can see where to assign samples. I have played around with the settings but can not get anything to happen. maybe it is ...

Using AKAI S3000XL with MIDI

Hi, I bought an S3000XL on the cheap and have recorded some samples into it with good success. I am more of an anologue guy usually and have never explored MIDI but would love to try it with this sampler. I have 2 devices capable of MIDI,- a Casio CZ-101 synth, and a Roland TR505 drum machine also. ...

Re: Roland TR505

HI thanks very much, I'm going to try that tomorrow definitely looking for a least a partial refund on this - not the kind of item you want to be fiddling about with for hours just to get working in regular fashion! neither special enough nor expensive enough! i'm sure you're all dying to find out h...

Re: Roland TR505

yeah thanks I found that after posting. There are some Tests in there which, if completed, can lead to Factory Presets being restored, but I do not have the necessary tools. I see on the circuit diagram there is a 'Reset' - perhaps if I take it apart that can be pressed. any other ideas would be mor...

Re: Roland TR505

Hi thanks for the response, it does make some sense! It is very easy to identify which sounds are louder than others: There are 5 quieter sounds (Kick, Snare, Ride Cymbal, Hand Clap, Rim Shot) and the other 11 are all really LOUD! The only problem is that I don't have experience of testing component...

Roland TR505

Hi I just bought a cheap 505 drum machine and had a question, some of the sounds (toms, hi hats etc) are literally 10 times as loud as the others (snare, kick etc) Even when you adjust the loud ones to Minimum volume level and the quiet ones to Maximum volume level! why is that? it makes the unit ve...

thanks

I'm looking for something a bit more old-skool though, not at all interested in Midi. just want it to plug in and have a warm sound really. preferably with some bass sound too similar to those from the casios with bass buttons on the side!

Cheap(est) analogue synths - recommendations please?

Hi, I have a modest analogue recording setup in my attic, and I'm looking to purchase a fairly cheap analogue synth for some nice warm keyboard sounds , good warm bass sounds and a bit of weirdness. wouldn't mind one with a few beat sounds on it too. used to have a casio mt-40 which was quite cool f...
