Re: Creating an Evolving Patch in Absynth 4
A good start for interesting timbre changes would be using looped envelopes or the LFO on morph waves, also Ringmod can be a good source for timbre changes as well as the allpass filter, wave shaper or frequency shifter...

Re: DX7 vs TX7?
I started thinking about picking up a TX7. I see them selling for $50 to $75 which doesnt seem too bad. I wasnt able to find too much info online or on this forum and I am wondering how similar is the TX7 to the DX7? Do the sounds translate well between the two or is there a noticeable difference? ...

Re: AN1x editor work in XP?
Might be the MIDI Interface, some software seems to have problems with Class Compliant MIDI Devices, since the Windows built in drivers seems to be quite limited function wise.Ashe37 wrote:locks up here... i'll try it on a fresh boot with antivirus off etc

Re: AN1x editor work in XP?
Hmmm, it works fine for me, no compatiblity mode needed. Try to download the latest AN1xedit version (1.10) from the files section of the AN1x-List.

Re: TG77 compatibility
That's rather a problem of the presets, since the SY77 can do those Basses. I programmed a few of my standard FM-Basses with the Synth and the results were quite pleasing.HideawayStudio wrote: The TX is great for bass sounds and the SY77 is an awsome synth - esp. for huge pads and analog emulations.

Re: What specifically is special about the DX100?
According to the DATA Sheet (if my english don't fail me) the YM3012 is processing 16Bit, using a 10 Bit DAC and ignoring the first 3 MSB of the 16 Bit Data stream and using the following 3 bits as exponent for amplification. What makes it a :dontknow: Hope this link works... http://www.datasheetarc...

Re: What specifically is special about the DX100?
A bit of misinformation in this thread. Firstly, LatelyBass and SolidBass are NOT the same sound. They're both great bass tones, but they're not the same. The 21/27/100 had 8-bit DACs and the TX81Z had 12-bit DACs, like the original DX7. The DX7II had 16-bit DACs. The synth engine in the DX21 is sl...

Re: waldorf micro Q info, patch and compatibility ?
Source: http://faq.waldorfian.info/faq-browse.php?product=q#21 Q: What's the difference between the Q and µQ series of synths? A: This list is probably quite a bit longer than you expect. As a general guideline the microQ seems to have just the things that a typical sequencer->tone generator setup n...

Six operators and as result of this, more algorithms. Additional envelope stages and operator frequencies, a pitch envelope, free running Operators if needed, improved level scaling.Ultralinear wrote:In what way is the DX7 more powerful programming-wise?

With Synths when I was 17, playing around with the poly 800 of a friend, with computers/soundchips about 2 years earlier in BASIC on an ATARI 400 (predecessor of the 600XL).

You mistaken the mod-wheel with pitch bend...Stab Frenzy wrote:The mod wheel shouldn't be steppy, it's a 14 bit value rather than a 7 bit one like most other midi controllers. Hmmm....

Re: Yamaha An1x non-steppy filter sweeps
Unfortunately quite some end 90s synths and even some actual models come with a rather bad parameter interpolation, what can be quite audiable on filtersweeps with high resonance setting. It might help to use the pitch bend controller instead, it has a higher resoultion (0 - 16383) than usual contro...

Their is a free DX7 to SY/TG patch converter avaiable from the FM-Alive page, what isn't very helpfull when it comes to TX81z sounds.

Re: Casio CZ-series
It's the same with the ringmod mixing level and I find it pretty usefull having an Envlope to control those parameters.madtheory wrote:The "noise mod" level can be controlled by the sustain level of line 2. Counter intuitive, but that's how it works.
