I finally took it in to my keyboard repairman who has repaired amps and keyboards for 40 years. He said he has never seen anything like this in all the years multi-track workstations have existed.

Thanks for your professional help. I suspected a hardware problem from the begining. On another subject, has enyone ever tried to make it feasible to add a hard drive to a synth? Thanks for the reply. I just tried that, but it didn't reset anything to allow the other channels to function.
