Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
The sequencer and drums aren't actually that great to use on the Micron, they're so much of a pain to program that neither I nor my bandmate have ever bothered to use them on his one. The fx built in are kind of handy, but personally I think an Ion with external fx would be miles better for what yo...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
I decided to hold on to the little phatty and add an Ion or Micron. I'm really happy with some of the sounds I've been dialing in on the Moog....just need something for chords/pads now. The Ion would be easier to dial in, but doesnt have as many features. Good call. You should buy a micron for less...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
It would seem as though he no longer has the Nord, judging by the original posts wording..? He used the past tense with that one and not the Moog. It would seem that I already realised that, judging by my post's wording. I used the past tense when describing the Nord. Oops I missed that. Apologies,...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
I'm basically looking to do Pink Floyd-esque sounds and other trippy stuff that will work well in a guitar-oriented rock band. I'm not looking for techno/dance sounds. Looking for something with some warmth to it and something than can get aggressive/gritty if need be as well.... The two synths you...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
Also, about build quality, anything beats a Pro~One, and most P1's have stood the test of time. A lot of people use them on the road without problems. So, you should be okay with an Ion as long as you care for it like you would any other instrument. I am leaning towards the Ion at the moment. Seems...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
Interesting. But, I thought the MicroKorg uses the same engine as the ms2000...making them sound nearly indentical. No?

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
Yes, I have looked at the Ion...Some issues with build quality and some reviews that said it can't get very gritty/aggressive turned me off, but other than that I had been strongly considering it. I'm really liking the Novation K-Station demos that I've been hearing and it has a very logical, intuit...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
I'm sorry, I'm really still a bit of a beginner with synthesis...If you put a guitar in my hands, I can tear it up and leave you breathless, but when it comes to synths, I might make your ears bleed and not in a good way. I've been reading reviews for awhile on a myriad of different synths and they ...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
Thanks, Rharris...I'll look into those. Can anyone tell me about the Korg MS2000? I've heard a lot of good things about it and it's of course cheaper than an Access. I know it has limited polphony (4 notes). You pretty much told yourself. Without anymore specifics, there aren't many more details to...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
To be honest you can get a lot of weirdness with polyphony and some modeled classic analog sounds out of a very cheap micro korg. I know its not very fashionable at this point, but with time taken in to tweak it, and effects added on - it can sound awesome. If you want higher class - I have a dsi p...

Re: Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
well, i know richard wright used Kurzweil mostly. I'd like a PC3K, or X but can't afford it. i'm thinking maybe an access virus c or a korg ms2000 would be a good choice...space6oy wrote:way too many options. i'd suggest you look up some bands like pink floyd that you're into and see what they've used.

Synth For Psychedelic Rock?
Well, I have had a couple synths in the past. I'm primarily a guitar player, so I'm still somewhat new to all of it. I have the Nord Lead 2X and it just seemed to be too digital and cold (sorry, don't mean to offend any of you that own one...there are plenty of great things about the Nord as well).....

Re:
Really wish they would have put sampling in there. yup, while I'm expecting some non volatile sampling in a vast environment, they skipped it! I definitely get this over the new Roland workstation and the Yamaha Motif. but still it's the one that takes more chunks in my brain than other workstation...

Re: Will Kurzweil release a new workstation line ?
I'm planning on investing in a PC3X once I sell my Nord Lead 2X. I think it's a fantastic board. From what I've heard, it will be over a year before Kurzweil releases a new K-series board, if they do. I would like something for samples though...thinking of Korg Triton rack (don't know if has user sa...
