Re: What’s happened to @Synth, browse the gear@ section?

It looks like the link got broken from Forum pages like: https://forum.vintagesynth.com/viewforum.php?f=1 ...(and this very thread), and now goes to the Home page: https://www.vintagesynth.com/ Ironically, on that Home page, hovering the mouse over the "Synths - browse the gear" link brings up the l...

Re: Can you help me find this preset from Hunt for Red October & Film Music Presets

Basil Poledouris was a genius and went too young. This doc has several clips of him in his studio back then, but the res is so poor, maybe someone with a really good eye could see what he's using. I think the lower one is an Emulator 2. The overhead studio views at 5m10s+7m58s+34m32s are too distan...

Re: Should I stay or should I go?! :-)

I mostly agree with Pro, although I'd just keep the AX60 (as you say it is "something I've always wanted") and the DSS-1 (as it has cool analogue filters and you say "I'm one of the very few that truly appreciates and understands this beast" (maybe keep both units for spare parts if you can justify ...

Re: Which keyboard is this in Mr Mister 1985 setup?

At 27'26" he gets up from it to press buttons on a Yamaha QX1 sequencer atop the rack ready for the final song "Kyrie". But I can't see clearly enough what's in the rack: looks like some 8-channel mixer, seen briefly at 0'26"+1'58"+6'07"+19'29", then again at 28'34" during his atmospheric Emulator s...

Re: Which keyboard is this in Mr Mister 1985 setup?

Hmmm, the top looks wooden in the first picture so my first thought was Korg Lambda but no, it's just stage lights reflecting. Kurzweil Midiboard was my second thought, but no, it's a Roland MKB-300 MIDI master keyboard, a lovely looking instrument (but shame it is velocity sensitive only, no aftert...

If you browse using Firefox, it may still be in your History (depending on your settings). Press CTRL+H, then select "Older than six months", and put youtube in the Search box. Other browsers may offer similar tools.

Re: FZ-1 Power Cord

The manual is here: http://manuals.fdiskc.com/flat/Casio%20FZ-1%20Owners%20Manual.pdf Page 8 shows the Rear Panel having what looks like a standard IEC C14 socket under the power switch. Page 135 at the end says AC 100V / 120V / 220V / 240V, 39W. So just select the right voltage for your country (or...

Re: Who can recognise these rack units in this picture?

And yes spock, the drummer in Genesis ;). I wonder what happened to him? He's still at it - here he is playing my friend's organ (well, same model anyway! 8-) ) https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/phil-collins-promises-hes-not-dead-yet-with-new-memoir-20160615 That's an Oberheim DMX in the back...

These clearer photos with the same Slazenger tanktop on :) don't give any more clues unfortunately. http://www.gettyimages.co.uk/detail/news-photo/phil-collins-working-in-his-home-recording-studio-surrey-uk-news-photo/544381062#phil-collins-working-in-his-home-recording-studio-surrey-uk-1984-picture...

Re: Who can recognise these rack units in this picture?

Yes, they could be SPX90's (1985), as the UP+DOWN buttons look right but I'm not sure about the LED positioning - even zooming in it's too hard to see properly: https://en.audiofanzine.com/multi-effects-processor/yamaha/SPX90/medias/pictures/a.play,m.1717730.html Good call on the Lexicon PCM41 (and ...

Status update: I'm finishing to write the document explaining the modification for the dual unit, including some useful pictures; I think I will release it on next weekend or immediately after. Thanks for the extended info - this thread is rapidly becoming a treasure trove of new knowledge! I've ne...

Re: Sony DPS-M7 & DPS-F7, and other double-personality devic

Very cool indeed! I have an R7 and F7; I've often been tempted by the M7's chorus effects, so am awaiting your further posts (the longer the better :geek:) with baited breath... :D Bear in mind that the front panel of R7=D7 and F7=M7 in terms of the third knob being either "Effect" level pot or "Met...
