Re: What synth should I buy for funk and prog?
If you are looking for vintage sounds, classic leads and pads, I wouldn't look any further than the King Korg you have already mentioned. It has received mixed reviews, but in reality (I owned one for a while) it has a good broad palette of vintage sounds dialled in (plus a couple of extra packs ava...

Re: Alesis MMT8 bpm problem
Hello, hello, is there anyone out there? Wow, I got a reply to my thread four years after posting it...
)
Well, I still have the MMT8, but I never was able to sync it in with the other bpm sources, so it was semi-retired. Will change it to internal clock only, and see what happens....

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
I'm kind of in the same position as the OP. My first synth, a Yamaha SY22 is in the hands of a friend now, but my second synth, an SH101 (now with grip and original strap) which I've owned for 20 years (cost me 50ukp in 1993!) is now about to be traded for a Pro 1 and a bit of cash. I've used the SH...

Re: synths ya should have bought![new orders old pro one]
Well, unless this was a scam (and my inclination is that it isn't), someone's Saturday night a few weeks ago got a whole lot better... What I want to know is who were the other seven people who looked at the auction and DIDN'T buy it at that price?? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/roland-jupiter-8...

Re: How far out of your way have you gone to get a synth?
My kind of thread :-) Here are some of my stories: Dragged a Moog Taurus (I took a trolley for it!) across London by public transport (train, underground, bus) once - doesn't sound that amazing, unless you realise the weight of the damn thing. Recently drove about 3 hours/ 300km each way from where ...

Re: A reasonably priced synth which plays great ARPs
No-one has mentioned the Novation Nova yet? The module should come in your budget (just about), I forget the exact specs but the arp is programmable, plenty of options, sounds very nice as far as I'm concerned, and very flexible - 6 part multi-timbrality with individual effects set-ups as well. Far ...

Re: Replacement Knobs for Supernova II
Hi Paul, just try Novation/Focusrite themselves in the UK, google for their contacts if you don't have them. I got a few spare knobs for my Nova from them a few weeks ago - they only have a few left though (so they told me), and are now charging 2ukp for each one (ouch...), but there we go. Oli

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
Proving that bargains can still be found, I've just seen an Arp Pro Soloist for sale here in Europe....for 50 euros.... well, that's what it says in the advert. I've sent an email, but I'm sure its already long gone... Missed out on a Nord Electro Rack 2 in Austria a few days back at 290 eur...

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
Not much happening around these parts at the moment, picked up a Pearl Syncussion SY1 for the equivalent of 90UKP recently, apart from that its the tale of missing out on a broken (but who cares!) Jupiter 6 for about 500UKP, and an MS20 for about 700UKP...

Alesis MMT8 bpm problem
Hi all, I have a problem with my Alesis MMT8. It seems that its bpm reading is not correct, i.e. you set it to for example 120, and it is somewhere around 118bpm. Its been checked against a computer, metronome etc, and there is definitely an issue (even with my possibly dodgy rhythmic playing!) My s...

Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?
Good to see this thread back
Scored a JX3p plus PG200 for equivalent of 180 UKP last week. Also a Roland Juno 60 for a good price a few weeks back, and a Wurly EP200a with legs/ pedal/ music stand for 500 UKP in August. Very happy with all three deals!

If you can live with an Ipad, then maybe it would be worth checking out the Mellotronics M3000HD?

Re: 80's era Howard Jones equipment?
Truly, that video a few posts back is one of the most depressing things I have ever seen. Tech geek idiots with stupid hairstyles, corporate chairs and tables, soulless bollocks, the antithesis of culture and beauty. As a Howard Jones album owner, I sit here in tears.

Advice on live on stage synth mixing levels
Hi all, Was wondering if anyone could advise me or help on problems I'm having with comparative mixing of synths at live stage shows. Basically, running a Nord Electro 3, Creamware Minimax and (sometimes) Novation k station into a small Yamaha mixer, and finding that levels are often different accor...
