Re: Does anyone here use Akai S5000 with Mac USB?

Limited in what way? The 'themes' are just skins and functionally identical.

Re: Novachord #346 Inspection & Initial Wakeup

Interesting. However, I can't imagine that the AFoM killed it. These organisations are usually a bit toothless (the MU didn't manage to ban the Tron or synths or samplers or really restrict their use). They may have caused a little trouble but not enough to kill it. I am suspecting that ... - It was...

Re: Novachord #346 Inspection & Initial Wakeup

Dan's put up his remarkable tale of the Novachord restoration HERE . With pics! It's quite a detailed read but terrific for some serious work avoidance - make a nice cup of tea, grab a cold beer, beverage of your choice and settle back!!! It's quite fascinating, especially for the more techy ...

Re: Novachord #346 Inspection & Initial Wakeup

On the 70th anniversary of the delivery of the first Novachord off the production line to US president, Franklyn D. Roosevelt, as a birthday present from Hammond, it is released and available in Kontakt 3 format. The program list is as follows... NC346 Always Dream.nki NC346 Anode Strings.nki NC346 ...

Re: Novachord #346 Inspection & Initial Wakeup

When you're past the formidable process of sampling, not to mention the continuing restoration, why not wire in a pot to each of the filters and see just how a continuously variable adjustment sounds? Is exactly what I've done... in software!!! [thumbnail]http://www.hollowsun.com/shop/novachord/blo...

This is, errmmm, interesting...

From 2.03 to 3.05...

Mind you, the whole vid is worth watching, especially the first two minutes - a reminder of those VERY different times!!

Re: Novachord #346 Inspection & Initial Wakeup

Found this in an interview with Laurens Hammond in 'Popular Mechanics' in 1939 discussing the Novachord.

Quite prophetic!!

Re: Novachord #346 Inspection & Initial Wakeup

The question is why did they not the filter the bottom 1.5 octaves and therefore why on earth didn't they just have one simple low pass filter in the audio path that could be switched in and out? There must have been a good reason to justify the sheer expense of providing such an elaborate mechanis...

Re: Novachord #346 Inspection & Initial Wakeup

Also, in person, I can physically restrain you from adding effects. ha ha ha ha Marc... don't let Dan know but the sample-set WILL include the raw samples in programs totally unadulterated by being lathered in modern effects processing, just a hint of simple reverb (which you can remove if y...
