Re: What Synth(s) Would You Use for Synthetic Drums?
I'm in the waldorf camp. My old microq keyboard made some of the most fantastic drum sounds I ever heard synthesized. especially things like snare and hihats.

Re: ackbasswards
I was thinking maybe they SHOULD make a lefty edition. That's the kind of thing moog would do, and could do well.

A nice little phatty shirt my wife bought me. It's a really high quality shirt. Just one problem...I'm sure a group of professionals such as yourselves will spot it immediately.

Re: A guitarists perspective on old vs new synths :)
I think when beat music took over kids put down their guitars and picked up their synthesizers. Thus the generation gap, and the heated debates.

Re: Doepfer Dark Time Analog Sequencer
...And I'm so sick of being dependent on a blessed computer I want to scream. I would rather like to see a quality tabletop sequencer like this. Remember not to long ago when there were no such things as personal compukers. The good old days.

Re: early aphex twin distortion sound
A lot of Aphex is urban legend. He used to do it to f' people up in the head and get them out of what they thought "should" be music. I heard he once djed in the early days and played nothing but sand paper cut into circles. It supposedly drove people to the point of insanity...but that could be leg...

Re: "Potentiometers" on new DSI synths - *Rant Warning!*
WOW! this has been a fascinating read to me, as my only complaint with any gear I've bought lately are the stepping values (especially on the envelope amount). Sounds like compromises are going to happen, and we have to make a choice as to which compromises we (as players) are willing to live with. ...

Re: dsi evolver sequencer
That's right as far as I know stikygum. I assign velocity to the amp to use it as a controller. The thing about the evolver's sequencer is that there are 16 steps * one sequence, then three other "virtual" sequence tracks. The three virtual sequences are dependent on the original sequence. For examp...

Re: What makes a good synth player?
Man this thread gives me a lot of hope for the future. Like many of you I have thought long and hard about this and have my own ideas, but I noticed that only the newer members really take this question to heart, while the older, and more experienced player are basically like "shut the f*** up and p...

Re: what's your take on modding gear?
If the mod. is a necessary one that is done by a pro. so be it. Circuit bending should be kept to cheap pieces that aren't very useful otherwise...no question about it.

Re: dsi evolver sequencer
^^^I'm actually trying to put this together right now, as I'm trying to sequence my blofeld from the DEVO, then send the blofeld back through the Devo's analog filter to achieve a q+ sound. It's a tricky affair, and the manual to the DEVO is indispensable in this situation. There is a bug with the D...
